I just explained how PGA golf works, financially. The PGA is where the NFL, NBA, and MLB were before free agency. Superstars and players had to take what the owners wanted to throw at them and they were stuck with that team for the rest of their careers unless the owners decided to trade them.

LIV is offering free agency.

Judging by Mike Whan’s response in the interview just now, I’d be surprised if they award points to LIV this year. Seems like they’re going to ride out this year and then decide.

He also just said LIV hadn’t yet submitted their OWGR application, which I had seen reported elsewhere as well. Weird.

So LIV and MINGO lied?

Shocking

I wonder if LIV also lied to all their players as well….

I seriously doubt that the LIV league is waiting for OWRG to do the right thing. This crap is going to court for a variety of reasons.

The big one, the board that will ultimately vote on the LIV Golf application comprises Augusta National Golf Club, the DP World Tour, the PGA Tour, the R&A, the PGA of America, the USGA, and the International Federation of PGA Tours (which is made up of smaller tours such as the Sunshine Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and so on).

If organizations or competing tours making up most of these OWRG committee members were actually asked to abstain due to a conflict of interest, who would be left to vote? I suspect that the court system will be asked to render judgment.

On the LIV side of things, the OWGR’s value and integrity are diminished greatly if it is not a credible and accurate representation of who the best players in the game are. Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Bryson Dechambeau, and all those major winners are so valuable here for LIV. This is something OWGR has always prided itself on, getting it right and fair, and if LIV continues to harvest the top 100 PGA golfers, and OWRG ignores them, they will eventually lose all credibility in the golfing community.

I texted one of my friends to give me some U.S. Open picks. Here was the response:
"Rory and Sam Burns. Don't care as long as DJ and all the other bin Laden lovers shoot 98. Any other country on earth you might be able to make an argument, not this one. Can't wait until someone says they're hurt and has to sit out and those terrorists have a go at their ankle with a bonesaw."

Hopefully, we won't hear much from the Saudi loving LIV scum.

Maybe I have Mike Whan mis-judged as the type not to lie in a presser, but he just straight up said that LIV hadn't even submitted their application as of two hours ago.

I would be shocked if they turned that around in 10 days. I can't see the seven stakeholders moving that quickly.

I didn't see the presser today, but what I had heard as of last week was next year was the target for OWGR points according to the LIV people. I don't think the expectation was ever Portland or really even this "season"

I don't think Mike Whan would lie about that either. All I can do is go off of the information that is out there.

Like every disciplined gambler. Betting based upon emotion. What could go wrong?

Bruce changed back to the PV1x and the Sim 2 from the Srixons. Him and Reed really lasted long on their new drivers

Not the point. But DJ is the 15th ranked golfer in the world.

You think DJ and his current form is a good bet?

He is one of the worst bets on the board considering where his odds fall

I don’t bet golf. My point was it’s really foolish to bet based upon emotion. What I do know is that there are probably 40 players that can win this week.

You shouldn’t bet with emotion

Having said that, there isn’t a current LIV player that’s a good bet
