Dustin Johnson is playing?
So the PGA has no control over the major fields? Just their shitty tournaments no one cares about?
I couldn’t give less than two shits about any golf tournament outside of the majors so who cares if the big LIV players can’t play in those.
Playing on the LIV tour and then just the majors seems like the best of both worlds.
Phil is playing too? LOL frick the PGA tour. Love it

USGA CEO said he didn’t feel comfortable telling guys who qualified per his own criteria that they can’t play this year
He all but said we’ll change that shite moving forward and make it difficult for these LIV guys to qualify

Nah Brooks is trying to deflect. He’ll be next to jump ship. He is the prototypical LIV golfer — only cares about majors and doesn’t care about regular PGA events, so LIV can give him the best of both world

I don’t disagree
I’m skeptical about anyone who answered “I’m just here to focus on the US Open” to the question “are you thinking about joining LIV”
For example, watching Cam Smith answer that question has me convinced he’s gone

The issue will be qualifying for majors.
If LIV won't be recognized by the World Golf Ranking, then they'll be on the outside looking in (unless they have winners exemptions like Reed and Johnson at the Masters, etc.)

They control the PGA Championship and players won't accumulate OWGR points playing on the LIV so they'll need to get into majors somehow

Good luck watching fan interest and ratings tank if some of the best players in the world can’t play the only 4 tournaments most people have any interest in.
All I know, it’ll be extremely compelling television if DJ, Phil, or any group of the LIV guys are in contention this weekend.

The PGA of America controls the PGA Championship. The PGA Tour has no say so.
Two different entities since the late 60s.

I think some big names are going to jump after the US Open, and he may be one of them.

You’re probably right. I’m sure he grew up idolizing Greg Norman

Has this been decided? As of last week the application, which met all of the criteria, was still pending.

Anyone have a tier list similar to what Winston Cup usually posts on the golf board?

No, they do not.
Must be an lsupride87 alter posting wrong information

Cam Smith was like 4 when Norman won his last tournament. Smith grew up in the Adam Scott Era, who grew up idolizing Norman.
