We'll be fighting over why the 13th and 14th teams didn't get in.

Make it solely based on computers and make it objective.

Should have stayed with the BCS

LSU fans will be making the argument that they deserve it in the coming years.

There should be auto qualifiers based on conference champions and then all the remaining spots are filled by computers

At least 13-0 conference champions won't be left out due to subjective "eye-tests."

The debate will shift to which 10-2 team should get the last at-large spot and which G5 team should get in. So controversy will still exist, but I cannot see anything of this magnitude happening.

Need definable rankings. No eye test or best 12 BS

Wins and losses, head to head, strength of schedule, point differential

The biggest mistake the CFP was tossing the BCS formula for a committee. For all the flaws of the BCS computer rankings, at least there was a tangible ranking you could follow from week-to-week and not just something that is seemingly pulled out of a committee's collective arse.

Reasonable fans can live with a 2 loss team being left out. Leaving out an undefeated P5 champion should NEVER happen, and it never will again

In the NCAA tournament you have people complaining about the first 4 out. The complaining is never going to end.

Nah. There’s little separation between the Top 8. 9-12 are basically wild cards. Opponents of the 12 team playoff would be horrified to see a 11 or 12 seed make a run. People complain in high school when those low seeds pull a string of upsets.

That’s what the BCS was, and it resulted in the CFP because the computers kept putting the SEC schools over everyone else. The last 4 NC games would probably have been Alabama vs Georgia every one. Probably wouldn’t have happened this year because the SEC was extremely weak compared to the past.

You do realize that the computers primarily use human polls right? It still has meaningful subjectivity but there’s never a perfect solve.

False. The BCS used polls and computers.

That’s way different. WAY different.

9-12 are only there for tv money.

When will people realize the whole system is corrupt and run by tv money.
People are being paid off and it’s not going to stop.

Most “computers” are just doing weighted calculations of human polls. AP, Coaches, etc.

They can also weight other factors like SOR but it’s typically utilizing polls (like in the BCS days).

Once you get to the 24 team playoff (give it 6-8 years) then the corrupt mafia won’t control it. The 12 team playoff will still be corrupt with the SEC and BIG running it. The 24 team version will force these “elite” teams to actually run a gauntlet of real games instead of having byes and cupcakes before their 2 real games every year.

And those who say it won’t expand - I called the 4 team version the minute they announced the BCS. It took longer than I expected but the money folks didn’t take that long to go from 4 to 12. I give it 6 years to double to 24 because the money is too great and the month of December is a dead zone so college football 8s about to take it over.
