He 4 or 5 putted because they thought he lagged I think

I'm trying to give Phil some benefit of the doubt by thinking of a reasoning for doing that. Like would the ball fall so far off the green that taking a 2 stroke penalty from there would be better than where the ball would have rolled to. But I just can't see it being possible.

How did Phil not get DQ’ed??
Seems like you could take advantage of that. Could have been much more than 2 strokes if that putt rolls off the green.

It’s a 10. That first putt was for bogey.

How far could that ball have rolled? It might have been worth a penalty if it rolled way off the green, then he had to chip it back up and start the process over.

Finally a golfer who said “frick it” just like I do.

I think the reasoning was he didn't want to chase his ball fifty yards back down the fairway. It wasn't the extra strokes he was trying to avoid. It was the extra distance he was going to have to walk.

9
His fifth rolled past the hole and his sixth was the inexplicable shot while ball was still moving. Seventh back downhill went in for a triple

He missed the putt going back

I remember Daly doing that at Pinehurst. Tom Kite was his playing partner and tried to console Daly, who was damn close to a nervous breakdown. I think the shakes from alcohol withdrawal had something to do with Daly's breakdown that day. iirc correctly, he withdrew before completing the round.

quote:nah he just snapped and said frick this. He would never do that to save strokes even if it were a viable strategy. I've always thought a 2 shot penalty in that situation was actually kind of light. It should probably be a DQ.

Agree.

Phil has absolutely zero fricks to give at this point.

if he signs for a 9 on a scorecard he’s gonna be DQ’d.
it’s for sure a 10

Yeah surprised he wasn’t DQd. While hilarious to watch it has to be damn near impossible to be his playing partner right now.

We will probably see some good shite from Phil on these last few holes.

Forget Hawaii, the most active volcano in the United States is Mt. Mickelson on Long Island.

When he did the little hop and run after the putt I knew what he was doing as shocking as it was it was the only reason to race to the ball. LOL
