You get charged with contempt of court if you don't respond to a subpoena, not perjury. Perjury occurs when you lie about an issue that is material to the case during your testimony, which means that you have responded to the subpoena already.

i thought he meant the threat of perjury would exist while testifying
Posted on 6/22/11 at 8:28 am to SlowFlowPro
Yeah, I kind of thought it was understood that I was referring to testifying. Because I doubt any Texas high school coaches are going to go all Greg Anderson and go to jail for refusing to testify. Although I don't know if it the same for a civil case.

So you think that they'd lie under oath?

No, I think they would testify truthfully. I don't even understand why you ask that because the opposite of Anderson is testifying since he refused to and was in jail until the Bonds trial was over.

And I think they would testify truthfully because they would be under the threat of perjury if they did otherwise.

So was Jose Canseco, Brian McNamee, and every cyclist who has ratted out Lance Armstrong.
Makes it no less true.

I’m holding judgment until Rachel McCoy weighs in, that is if her jaw isn’t still wired shut from the right cross Colt gave her after the Cowherd interview.

So you're willing to tear down established superstars with the broken-down testimony of down-and-out losers who are still struggling for that one last taste of fame?
Likely it's more often than not that what those "star witnesses" preach as the truth is anything but.
I just don't see that with this coach. Most HS coaches in the state of Texas are well-paid to start with. The pressure of keeping the Horns program stocked with first-run talent is likely to be very high, especially with the numbers of UT alums which are all over that big-azz state. UT has always wanted to have everything leaning heavily in their favor to begin with. We saw the results of it in the demise of the SWC, and the near collapse one season ago in the Big XII now minus II.
I hate me some Texas as much as the next guy, but damnit man. Let's not compare apples with oranges.
