I'm sure something will change between now and then, but it's looking like Wimbledon will be a 3-horse race. Cilic might be the only guy with some semblance of a shot to upset one of the top guys, but with his ranking he could end up having to beat all 3 of them to lift the trophy.
I'll be looking for a sleeper to win the #4 seed's quarter.

Have to follow here. I can't imagine we will be seeing numbers like this for much longer with him.
Finally got around to watching the highlights of his final with Berrettini. Some random thoughts...
1. At some point between last month and today, his forehand seems to have improved significantly. I have a few possible theories, but the "why" is not important. The one he hits at 5:02 in this video, and the ones vs. Brown at 10:43, 12:34, and especially 12:59 (break point to stay in the match) all had me wondering if I was watching the right player.
2. He possesses that wide serve in the ad court that guys 6'2" or below (with a few exceptions, notably Roger) can't really hit consistently. It's a huge weapon that can get you out of jams since the majority of break points take place on that side. He had Brown straight up guessing, which is how you end up with 30 aces, I presume.
3. Considering FAA lost the match, it could be inferred that Berrettini is playing some damn great tennis. Yeah, that would be an understatement. This dude played Kyrgios, Khachanov, Kudla, Struff, and Felix only faced 2 break points in the entire tourney. At 23, he has taken the slow route up the rankings, but his game is impressive for a 6'5" guy, and I'm curious to see if this success will translate to hard courts.
Appreciate the breakdown. I haven't been watching any of the tune-up tournaments, so I've only heard of FAA's exploits. And it's just damn impressive to see those kind of results in what was literally his first atp event played on grass.

May I offer up the following?

They keep showing the rain clouds during this London match like it's some kind of new development.
ETA: Felix and Grigor will be completely different players by the time this match is played.

Ironically all this time off the court may end up prolonging Delpo's career near the end.
Felix vs. Kyrgios just started. 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 incoming.
Chardy about to serve for the win over Shitsy.

Is it wrong that I'm pissed that Fed/Tsonga is on TC and not Felix/Nick??

Felix/Nick highlights. Dude is a basket case. Lol.
Eta: Including making the ump give Felix a point on an obviously out serve!

That through the legs winner at 2:40 was awesome though.
Nobody hits unnecessary between-the-legs winners like honey nut.

Btw, FAA beat tread marks 5 and 2. Young canuck on the come up.

I would say he's already here, but that's just me.
If one were to make an argument that he's the 4th-best player in the world at this exact moment, I'm not sure if I could counter that.

I'm dating myself for you young bucks, but this is starting to feel like some Becker '85 deal where a young guy blasts his way through Wimbledon after good results at the tune-ups.
To revisit from upthread, is Berrettini legit?
Grass is so quirky that these guys could lose early at Wimbledon, though, and I wouldn't blink.
