I knew it was too good to be true. Dammit. Now I don’t even get to see roger play again, at least if kachanov won I would have

Oh well

Sorry, dude. I don't think I'm going to tournaments other than the U.S. Open anymore because of this.

I came here to post what has already been posted.

Sad face.

If I hear anybody say that Rafa withdrew because he was scared to play Federer, I will make it my life's mission to hunt you down and assassinate you and leave nary a trace of evidence for LE to go on.

I feel for you. For real. That's a bummer, man. Sorry how that played out.

On the flip side, it seems like rest isn’t doing him a whole lot of good these days.

He has bad tendinitis. Rest is about all he can do. Once he starts playing again it's only a matter of time before it comes back. And obviously the hard courts are much MUCH more stressful on the knee than clay. If I were him I would probably shut it down until Monte Carlo.

I probably shouldn't write this without doing a bit of research or texting my cousin -- who is an orthopaedic surgeon -- but I don't know that tendinitis is such that he'll be substantially limited in functionality as he gets older.

Andy Murray, on the other hand, is probably gonna be feeling a pain in his for the rest of his life. Poor dude.

eta losses to Rafa on clay should come with an asterisk though imo. it's just not a fair fight

Novak at his best can do it.

Hopefully Thiem takes out Milos.

As long as I don't have any wagers to alter my rooting interests, it's always fun to go against servebot Milos.

what a story from Fowler just now. Chris Evert got lost while hiking and ended up in someone's backyard. they informed her she was trespassing. she asked for a ride back to her hotel and they said no. Evidently the hike started with Patrick McEnroe because Cahill then asked how they got sepatated to which Fowler said "unclear"

Great win for Thiem.

Glad I don’t have to see Raonic in his ridiculous shorts tomorrow

Thiem wins. And for that we are all grateful.

Thanks for the condolences. It’s ok though, I just bought the tickets to half the quarters and the semis a few weeks ago, so seeing Fed and Nadal play yesterday was already unexpected and getting to see them today would’ve been a bonus.

Still a great time out here though! It’s a really great scene here.

Nice. I wasn't paying attention and thought today was the only day you got. That would have been a bummer, although the Thiem/Raonic match was decent.

Normally Rafa just waits til he is losing to start grimacing and acting hurt

Then he is “tough as nail” as he finishes the match out while losing

Ok, so I'm a doctor, but not an orthopod, but I have had my share of tennis (and other sports) injuries. Tendinitis is oftentimes a symptom of something underlying as well as a primary process, so the short answer is that it depends upon what the underlying insult to the affected area is as to whether or not it will be a later in life issue. I generally think of patellar tendinitis as an issue that primarily starts with the quadriceps muscle group, so it probably is more soft tissue than structural, which is the long way to say this probably is not terrible for later in life.

I had a feeling Friday watching his match with KK that Fedal would not happen today unfortunately.

This women's match is very nerve-wracking.
