Maybe y'all are full right now and it will happen in a few years, but I know there have been conversations and there have been no announcements.
Well, the fact that there have been conversations means that we're clearly not dodging you.
shite man, if you can acknowledge that we've got other contractual commitments, then you would understand that we're not "refusing to play LA Tech".
You implied that we were turrfurred of Tech, when that is not the case.

"Refuse" does not mean "terrified." I would speculate that Tulane feels about Tech the way Tech feels about ULM.

Believe me, Tech would LOVE to play Tulane every year. We would LOVE for it to be a conference game.
OK, all shite talking aside (BTW, we're now on page 37. w00t!), I've been one of the people who has been saying that Tech should have been one of our targets in CUSA for a while. Y'all don't fit in the WAC, geographically speaking.

quote:I can't speak for LSU's money needs; I am so uninterested in the money regarding college football that I can't have an intelligent conversation regarding it. I will say, however, that if one company wants to do something to better themselves financially, they have some sort of obligation to do it. Not saying that this applies to LSU, but I'm not saying that it doesn't. Bottom line for me--I want LSU/Tulane every year, and in November.
Nice.
Yeah, it's y'all's douche of an AD who wants out of the deal. It's been discussed ad nauseum in other places about how the game in NOLA benefits LSU more than any other non-conference road game, especially because it's a virtual home game. It should also be noted that his argument that LSU "needs" 7 or 8 home games a year is dishonest, because schools like USC manage with 6 home games per year--AND they travel cross country at least once every year. Anyway, since the Superdome game is worth almost as much as a home game to LSU financially, that should be a non-issue.
quote:I can understand New Orleans resentment even moreso than a Baton Rougean, being that I'm from North Louisiana. There always has been a little cynicism based on the idea (whether accurate or not) that New Orleans gets a little more attention from the state than they should.
No, Alleva is allowing the element of the LSU fanbase (and some Baton Rouge people...) who can't see beyond their hatred for New Orleans in general and Tulane specifically. Make no mistake, the LSU/Tulane series makes more money for NEW ORLEANS than it does for Tulane, and there are those out there who resent that.
That's just the other side of the argument, however much or little water it holds.
I still want to see LSU and Tulane every year.

We don't have the same history with you guys that ULM has with you. We've only played you guys like 6 times. Y'all have played ULM over 40 times. You shouldn't piss away a rivalry like that.

Rumor has it, the Tulane administration was NOT in our corner the last go-around. I can't confirm that.

That's one rumor. Another is that Britton Banowsky wanted another Texas school to replace TCU when they left, and the trio of SMU, Rice, and Tulsa pushed really hard for UTEP.

Let's get it started. That would be a much better yearly matchup than Tech/ULM. Tulane seems to be a much better rival for Tech than ULL or ULM.

He hired a consultant (Chuck Neinas, I believe) and Neinas visited Tech, UNT, and UTEP. UTEP was given the nod due to their attendance at football games... which was the right move IMO (for monetary reasons). In an informal vote, we did not have the support of Tulane, USM, or Memphis.

Yeah, and the attendance numbers were a factor, as well. There was also talk of trying to get a tie-in with the Sun Bowl at one point. I still think that Tech got screwed, though.

Tulane seems to be a much better rival for Tech than ULL or ULM.

Tech officials will be forced to meet and discuss this thread. The subject of the meeting: They think we're pussies, and they are right--how do we change that perception?
