Teams with Native American names....

Is it really that big of a deal?
I think maybe the Redskins is a bit much, kinda of a slang term.
But others nicknames just remind me of warriors or fighters...
like Seminoles, Indians, Braves, Chiefs, & so on
Isn't a tough sounding name and mascot what you're
looking for in a team name?

Well, I think it is kind of ironic that this name is associated with the "Politically Correct" capital of the world.

I don't think Florida State should be forced to change their name either.
They do it out of respect for the Seminole Nation.
I remember when they wore the uniforms that said "Unconquered" down the pant leg. That was awesome, because the Seminole nation is the only Native American Tribe to never sign a treaty with the U.S. government.

No.....the people who it bothers should find something more constructive to do with their time. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me....if you don't like it, ignore it. No need to ruin something that so many other people love because you are offended over something so trivial.
Just like the morons who get offended if you wish them a Merry Christmas who don't celebrate it.

Redskin is not a historically pejorative term.
It only "sounds bad" in the current ultra-pc environment.
Now that Cleveland Indian logo with the "injun with the big shite eatin' grin" may be a more proper target.

They won't be. The Seminole tribe came out in support of FSU and gave their blessing.

We have a # of Seminoles at each of the home games. They fully support the name.

it has to be the most racist team logo in modern sports

North Dakota was the one that got jobbed. They had the endorsement of the tribes until the NCAA gave one of the tribes cash. The open letter written by UND's chancellor was a masterpiece.

If the Redskins have to change their name, so should the Vikings.
My people are not a bunch of looting, conquoring savages, and it damages political discourse to project these images against blonde-haired, blue eyed caucasians.
Ridiculous.
Throw the Celtics in there too. We're not a bunch of short clowns. Eff that.

The Cowboys should be forced to change their name as well. Real cowboys everywhere should be appalled that Tony Romo represents them. It's a disgrace.

Well did kind of systematically exterminate or marginalize Native Americans, so it is kind of weird to name a team after them.
It would be like the Serbians naming a soccer team the Fighting Kosovars or the English naming their team the Picts.
