Thank you for voting, Baloo. Here is how you voted:
1. Florida
2. Southern Cal
3. Alabama
4. Texas
5. Ohio State
6. Oklahoma State
7. Penn State
8. Ole Miss
9. California
10. Virginia Tech
I like going to 15. I'm not going to punish VT for losing to a Bama team that looked great, especially since Taylor looks like a real QB. BYU is a real interesting team all of a sudden.

how did ole miss crack your top 10 after their sunday performance against memphis yet LSU gets bounced for a shoddy game?

LSU was #9 last week. I dropped them for struggling against a team that didn't win a game last year. Yes, it's a punitive ranking. LSU can bounce back, but on resume, that wasn't good. Ole Miss gets a bump not so much for what they did but that everyone else struggled worse.

15 point win over UW who is much much better this year

i am not picking on you, but this is why preseason rankings really screw with the minds of voters.
byu has arguably the best win out of any team this year and yet, still they are not in the majority of top ten polls.
it personally doenst make sense to me...ah well

I'm torn on voting for BYU. They looked much better than OU, but here's the thing... how good is OU? Their o-line is awful. Just awful. If we're going straight resume right now, the top of the poll would look something like:
Bama
Okie St
BYU
Mizzou
Miami
I'm not prepared to do that, are you? A poll at this point is still part projection and part resume. It has to be, or else there's no way to rank Florida in the top 25.
And I did watch the Ole Miss game. I know they were only up 7 in the fourth. But they did something LSU was unable to do: put away the inferior team. LSU is #14 in my BlogPoll, which is what happens when you let up that many yards on defense, coming off a year in which defense was the biggest problem.

if you are going strictly by resumes (and your own personal votes from the last week even) then byu is #1.
they beat a top 3/4 in the country according to everyone on here and everyone in the media.
i was not prepared to vote them #1, but they deserve some love in the poll. not only did they defeat a favorite for the national championship, but they looked damn good doing so.
anyways, it really is just a matter of perspective. im not bashing your rankings, i know you were one person would give me justification for your votes, so i asked.
i would also throw mizzou out of your impressive win list and maybe add cincy.

For all the OSU haters, no way we fall out of the top 10 when ranked 6th coming into the game. 2 teams lose in the top ten and you expect OSU to fall 5 spots after a win? No way.

No. We're saying they didn't belong in the top 10 in the first place.

bullshite. There should always be situations where a team drops after a win, especially this early in the season. My ballot will change drastically from week to week, especially this early in the year. If the Navy game had occurred 6-7 weeks into the year, and OSU had already established themselves as a contender, then the penalty for barely winning against a mediocre team would not have been as severe.

I have them outside of my power poll.
Cal looked better against a BCS team
BYU obviously looked good
Boise St looked good against a BCS team
Penn St was dominant in the only half their starters played in
Ole Miss remembered to play in the 4th quarter (say what you want, but games are 60 minutes)
Bama looked pretty good
Okie St looked good
Florida/Texas/USC all rolled
Give me won reason why the frick OSU would be better than any of those.

I know you're not bashing and I like the discussion. I think it's way too easy to overreact to the first week. I also think just having the top ten doesn't show a lot of my down ballot thinking.
I vote in the CBS' blogpoll, and BYU and Mizzou are both in the top 15. Cincy is ranked. Georgia is not ranked at all, and I have OU at #20.
I don't feel bound by last week's ballot at all, so I am voting based on resume, prediction, and just general feeling I got from teams in their first game. For example, I really thought LSU was going to come out like gangbusters, but their struggles, particularly on defense, makes me revise my preseason prediction for them. Cincy was a team I liked but I wasn't sure how graduation would effect them. I'll quote Doc Saturday, who called them "ruthlessly effective". Sure, Rutgers sucks, but I feel that the talent drain won't be too severe for Cincy.
