There are plenty of first ballot HOFers who arent top 10 all time. It is a very small and exclusive list. I just dont think Kobe is a member of that group (and I am not alone in thinking this way). I understand he died a tragic and untimely death. But I dont think we can just go saying he is top 5 all time just because he died. There are stats to back this stuff up.

He wasn't top ten. That said, he's close enough that I wouldn't be offended if you put him at #10.

I'd personally put him somewhere 12-15. I feel like we had this thread like 3 weeks ago.

He is probably very close. Top 10-15 player.

Jordan
LeBron
Kareem
Bird
Magic
Wilt

No way Kobe is above any of the guys listed above.

Shaq
Bill Russell
Oscar Robertson
Kevin Durant (projected)
Tim Duncan

Could easily make the argument for these guys.

Others in the discussion but not people I would pick over Kobe: Barkley, Malone, West, Baylor, and Dr.J.

So I think you could slot him between 7th and 17th all-time.

I prefer to rank them pre merger and post merger as it’s really impossible to compare guys from the 50’s/60’s in an 8 team league to the modern basketball we have now

In no specific order
Jordan
Lebron
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Kobe
Duncan
Shaq
Hakeem
Barkley

I am not qualified to judge where an NBA player ranks on the all-time list.

True.

He is fringe top 10. No higher than 8, but no lower than 13 imo.

I won't entertain an argument that has him higher than 8 and wouldn't entertain one that had him lower than 13.

He settled for a lot of jump shots especially for a player that had above average athleticism. He didn't get a lot of separation either. It always seemed like he was more interested in getting a move off and hitting a difficult shot then just doing what was necessary.

It was like he always had to show off his footwork or his ability to make difficult contested shots.

He really didn't have many standout playoff performances either. He won titles as the 2nd best player and finals where he didn't even play well.
