This is a carry over from the radio days. Watching a game without somebody calling it is actually pretty dull. It's been tried and failed. Plus, a lot of times a person can be doing other things around the house and not always paying attention to the TV. It's nice to have on in the background to listen to and follow the action.

Coach interviews going into halftime or during the game. It's pointless.

Reporter: Coach, what went wrong in the first half?
Coach: Well we didn't run the ball well enough. We have to be better.

Yellow/blue/red/black lines superimposed on the screen. All I have to do is look at the top of the screen to see where the orange marker is to know the yard line the 1st down is. Most kickers have a similar FG range, so no need for a big clunky graphic on the screen. All the pointless down and distance arrows when that information is on the box or bar at the top of the screen. Networks annoyingly changing the camera angle from sideline to behind the end zone during a long run or return. Boring Jim Nantz opening every game with "hey friends". Networks sticking with a blowout game in the 4th quarter when other games are on. NFL scheduling a shitload of 12:00 games, but only a few 3:25 games. All the ESPN stupid cartoon animations on their Sunday night games.

When they shoe live basketball action from some stupid arse angle. Those angles are for replays, not live action.

Same thing in baseball when they randomly switch to the behind the catcher/umpire angle for a single pitch, which completely obstructs the path of the baseball.

Cold weather game. Open the broadcast showing the announcers dressed up like they are on an Everest climb. Windows to the press box open. Why???

Good play by play guys add so much to a game. The really good ones know exactly when to raise their voices to add drama to big moments. The truly great ones are great at game introductions. Keith Jackson was the best play by play guy of all time, IMO. There will never be another one like him.

on NBCs NASCAR coverage, they interview the winner on the track, then interview him again 5 minutes later when he gets to victory lane.

I agree with several of your points, but you might want to rethink this one....

I tend to agree. Sometimes when I go to football games, I actually prefer to sit in the end zone so I can watch things like this better. Of course the trade-off is that it can be hard to tell the difference between a 1 yard rushing play and an 8 yard rushing play because of depth perception.

All interviews with almost all coaches are bland and pointless. I automatically turn the channel when interviews start up on radio shows.

Their MLB Sunday night games have had the silly caroon animations since at least last year. They look awful.

So true. I know when the first question is about X coach's golf game or what they had for lunch it's time to turn the dial.

Keith Jackson "hellloooo everybody".. He truly was an all time great. I miss his voice on them big time ABC matchups and National title games so much.
