Dwayne Bryant

Yes, I saw him play a lot. He tore it up in the summer leagues before his senior year and was high school all American. Had an offer for from virtually every top 10 school in the nation. DLS finished 40–1 that season. They won the Sunkist shoot out that year pretty handily And he was MVP. Fess Irvin was also in that tournament and lit it up. Bryant single-handedly took over in the state championship game in overtime to beat Archbishop Carroll who was previously undefeated.

He is fifth in all-time assists at Georgetown. His jr. year he set the team record for three-point field goal percentage although he really wasn’t a long range shooter.

Former LSU walk on and fan favorite Dennis Tracy was one of his DLS teammates

This was my most favorite tournament to play in when I was in HS. Most points in a game by a single player record still holds from 1993. Was set against us. Dude shot a million free throws in that game

Why say this and not also say the name/school of the guy and how many points he scored??

f you were a D1 talent in the 80’s and 90’s why wouldn’t you leave the state? Louisiana basketball was arse.

That was during the Dale Brown and Tim Floyd days. They didn’t all leave

Dwayne Bryant - Played at De La Salle in New Orleans from 1983-1986

I'm Bryant's age and watched him ball out at DLS. Other's from NOLA who had just as much talent and played OOS. John Thompson had a serious pipeline of NO talent

Kerry Kittles 1997 St. Aug > Villanova
Duane Spencer 1992 Cohen > Georgetown > LSU
Donald Royal 1988 St. Aug > Notre Dame
Jaren Jackson 1990 Cohen > Georgetown
Perry McDonald 1989 Carver > Georgetown
Avery Johnson 1989 St. Aug > Southern

Perry McDonald was 6'4" and arguably the best all-around athlete. Ran track including the 400 and 800 relays, solid baseball player, won 50 of 58 matches as an amateur boxer, all district DE in football - played on the same HS FB team as Marshall Faulk.
