The transcript shows that shows that Kerr voluntarily steered the conversation towards China — a somewhat surprising move given the general reticence of people around the league when it comes to discussing the topic.

After Buckner asked if speaking out about political issues can be "burdensome," Kerr expressed remorse over not backing Morey, who unleashed a firestorm after tweeting support for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.

"I handled it really poorly," Kerr said. "I was frankly sort of tongue tied. I'm sitting there trying to figure out what I'm supposed to say to make sure I don't put the league in jeopardy but also trying to find the right balance and I realize it was probably the one time over the years when I haven't just spoken my heart and I sort of got caught in this political hail storm.”

Yikes. The woke bunch on here will have a hard time spinning this since they love to mock anyone that hates the nba’s position on China.

AHM21 was so angry at Kerr’s comments that he gripped the customer’s latte too hard and it went all over his fair trade apron.

Lol they didn't give a shite

Silver already donated to Biden. Kerr will as well

Biden is whipped and owned by China.

It's just them covering their arse but not really caring to much.

I already said this shite in the thread yesterday about the ESPN article. Dont believe these people its damage control.

A couple Senators are on their arse and they know public perception is switching. They chose money over human rights and now they act like they want to backtrack. LeBron hasn't said anything because he hasn't been told what to say yet. Kerr is following marching orders. Dont be naive. frick the NBA

So even when they say exactly what you’ve criticized them for not saying, it’s still not good enough? Sounds like a page out of the far left’s handbook.

You keep saying this while failing to realize that people can't cut off any and everything that ever touched China because US business is so heavily tied to them
That's basically telling the populace to:
Never use any sort of electronic, even your fricking alarm clock.
Throw away 90%+ of everything in your kitchen, including the coffee mugs.
Might wanna look at dumping your furniture, critical parts of your car, the very house you live in, oh and probably some other essential goods while you're at it.

People want to get away from being reliant on China, but it's kinda hard when the US as a country fricked them sideways on the matter.

If owning something that may have been involved with China production makes you incapable of criticizing them, then I guess you better get used to taking their metaphorical cock down your throat.

Great tweet by Steve this AM

With NBA games now in full force, the inevitable race baiting 'kneeling is a sign of disrespect!' tweets are coming. Our message is clear: We love our country. And we also believe that this nation can and must do better to eliminate racism and bigotry. That is why we kneel.

The difference is, all of us use products from China, but not all of us go around preaching at people about social justice and telling other people how to live.

The issue is when people enter the arena of social justice and then they are hypocrites by picking and choosing issues. They deserve criticism.

While I'm surprised by Kerr, I'm glad he owned it. I think some are still off-put by how it was handled at the initial onset, and it's hard to fault them for that. That said, people should recognize the shift regardless of the initial shitshow.

Nope. Nothing at all wrong with focusing ones attention and comments on ones own country. what is going on here should be much more important to Americans than what is going on halfway across the globe.

This argument loses steam when you realize how heavily tied we are to China economically. Welcome to globalism and its rather severe drawbacks.
Yeah, it's over there, but when COVID hitting China suddenly affected our medical supply among other things due to manufacturing dropoff, yes, it absolutely affects Americans. Just because it's not geographically in our borders does not mean it has 0 effect on us.

Honestly it’s not as much the involvement with China as how they treated the guy who was speaking out against something China was doing.
