Taking a man's property because of his private opinion sounds consitutional right?

I agree with this. However, forcing players to work for someone who's racist views were made public shouldn't happen. Not all players get to decide who they play for.

Could Sterling claim Dementia and walk away from this easy peasy?

Why does everyone posting in support of Sterling have to preface their comments by saying "he's an idiot and a racist, but..."
It's the equivalent of prefacing comments with "I have black friends."
Just say what you have to say. People are still going to know you support Sterling and don't really have a problem with what he said. If you had any problem with it, you wouldn't be defending him.

Even funnier is that 99% of this board has said something much more hateful and offensive in their own lives behind closed doors. That's what bothers me the most about this. If he made a public statement with intolerant, racist views, I can absolutely see the outrage being justified. Saying it behind closed doors to someone he supposedly trusts makes this whole thing horseshite. He's a POS, but I'd hate to have the worst things I've said about people behind closed doors broadcasted on national TV.

I agree with your sentiments, but in the context of a private club like the NBA, they can kick this POS for whatever reason they want in relation to their own rules. However, there will be a court fight over the antitrust aspects of this move.

other than those on rookie contracts, i believe only deandre jordan and jared dudley were forced
*ETA: and they all knew of sterling's rep, and if they didn't, they're literally retarded

I don't get the people saying shite about his property rights being violated. Its basically the same thing with HOA's. If you don't abide by the rules they can kick you out and force you out.
Doesn't matter that it was in private because he knew he was being recorded and admitted it was him.

Serious question. How many people think Sterling should be given the death penalty?
Posted on 4/29/14 at 1:49 pm to rockchlkjayhku11
I'm sure there is some sort of language in your contract with the NBA when you own a team that allows for a "hostile takeover" of sorts from the other owners if certain transgressions are made. However, where it gets shady is how these views of his were brought to light in which he didn't consent to this audio tape.

My great grandpa is in his 80's and always says some racist crap anytime I visit. I just change the subject. There's no point at that age. I just check on him from time to time because it means a lot to my dad.

People are literally losing their goddamn minds over something a man said in his own privacy and people have no problem with that being violated because they disagree with what he said. He may be a POS and a racist but I hope Sterling sues and wins and sends people a clear message they can't force him to do something he doesn't want to do with his property. The lack of respect for property rights is disgusting.
He broke his contract with the NBA and they are punishing him (apparently) in accordance with the contract. Sterling didn't have to buy an NBA team and agree to the NBA bylaws. Don't agree to a contract with a detrimental conduct clause and then spout racism knowing you're being recorded.

because people have been called racists for days now for not saying they want sterling crucified
it's a fine line that the PC/thought police have created in their never-ending battle to force groupthink and create sheeple.
