Jerry Rice tried the web tour and didn't sniff the cut.

I'm pretty interested to see what he does. If anything, this maybe allows the casual golf fan to appreciate the pros even more. Here you have a guy who plays as a hobby and is pretty good, yet can't even sniff a pro tournament.

I think the opposite. If he shoots like 82, and one of the pros shoots 78, a casual fan will say "fricking golf, a guy who plays as a hobby only part of the year barely lost"

Yeah but Jim Jimmy from Iowa can't play in the event now. And TT9 is mad damnit.

The silly shite people get upset about is damn funny. One of the best things about TD.

If if he finishes anything but dead last, are you going to laugh at all those hard working blue blood true spot earners that finish behind him too?

if he finishes anywhere higher than last place, then it's a very successful event for all parties

hell, it's already successful considering the pub that it's getting...which it would not have gotten without Curry.

once again, curry's making heads spin.

think about it, you're talking about an event that you wouldn't otherwise give a shite about. mission accomplished.

missed cut is a missed cut. Now there is a last place if he should make the cut.

If TT9 were the sponsor, he would give the exemption to some no-name frick from Iowa.

So you shouldnt be angry then. Because your sponsor exemption to John Langley from Missoula would also result in a missed cut

ok? and how many actual golfers will miss the cut along with him? you're crying about giving an exemption to curry and not giving it to another guy who bled sweat and tears all his career and probably would have missed the cut as well

I wonder if he'd have the same opinion if it were Brady receiving the sponsor exemption.

Meh. The cut will be well under par. The winner will be better than 20 under par. Curry may finish double digit strokes outside of second to last place. Two days in the 80s while guys are throwing up 64s.

Jerry Rice also isn't that good.

What you guys don't understand is these courses are not set up hard. The directors of these tournaments set the courses up to be easy so scores will be low and people will want to watch.

With that said I'd be surprised if Curry shot 2 rounds in the 80s. One? Maybe, mostly from nerves. Now that means the score to make the cut will be lower so by no means am I saying he'll make the cut for sure, but he could easily be fairly close to par after 2 days (somewhere around 5 over)

+5 after two days would have beaten 8 web.com pros at this event last year. It would have tied recent PGA tour winner Grayson Murray. I don't see how he comes close. Will be interesting to see.

This thread is great because TT9 and lsupride get into a fight about Curry. Then other posters come in and destroy both their arguments.

If Curry plays like he can he can shoot decent scores. The slope of the course is 74. That's like your average course from the tips. For reference Squire Creek is 75.4 or 75.3 slope from the tips. The point is the course is set up for people to make birdies and Steph is good enough to do that. For that reason alone I don't think he'll shoot in the 80s. Given that info though, the pros will be shooting in the 60s easily so that doesnt mean he'll make the cut.
