Here’s my contribution to the thread since I’m not a hockey expert...

Just looked up the longest OT games for comparison.

Conclusion: There’s no comparison.

I'd say that was the hockey version of the old phrase...the operation was a success but the patient died. I'll still be watching and rooting on Tuesday...but I can't see VGK picking themselves up off the deck after that one.

I'm not sure who's more thrilled right now...Sharks or Avs fans. The only way that this could go any better for the Avs would be another multiple OT slug fest Tuesday night.

My neighbors 2 houses down are from Massachusetts and are huge Bruins fans. Most everyone else on the block will be pulling for VGK. Suffice to say that Tuesday night will be interesting on the block.

Interesting irony...The 1987 4OT Game 7 between the Islanders and the Caps also took place on Easter Sunday.

Well, sorta...it started at 7:30 pm the previous night and ended at almost 2AM Easter morning.

The only way Vegas comes back from this is if Fleury stands on his head in game 7. They have to be feeling like they were completely kicked in the gonads. The only good news for them is that Fleury does have a history of standing on his head in game sevens. Ask the Red Wings.

Unfortunately, Fleury has been down this road twice before...and neither time ended well for him. While with the Penguins, they blew a 3-1 series lead twice...to the Lightning in 2011 and to the Rangers in 2014. He played well in both Game 7s but got no offensive support at all. (Pens lost 1-0 to the Lightning and 2-1 to the Rangers.)

I gotta give all kinds of credit to Martin Jones of SJ. It's an indication of how insane these playoffs have already been that SJ rode him into this spot. He actually raised his playoff saves % 40 points tonight.

In the end, VGK went full Lolo Jones 2008 Beijing 100m finals mode...come on nicely after a slow start, dominate towards the end...only to lose when getting tripped up by a Hertl. :rimshot:

Thank you, ladies and germs...I'm here throughout the playoffs...wakka wakka wakka.
