The Spurs beat the Cavs both times this year. They were a better team too. This is why Lebron reaching the finals is a worthless stat. Making the finals does not mean that you were the second best team.

Yup.

Kawhi is a better two-way player than LeBron too

This is soo true man. That's why conference splits suck when it comes to playoffs, especially when the conferences are so lopsided.

While I agree that the conference split is stupid and it should just be all 30 teams and top 16 make the playoffs (similar to what European soccer does by determining a champion, but of course they don't use playoffs) but the Spurs are not better than the Cavs. Also, Kawhi is not a better two-way player than LeBron, shut the frick up.

Um, Spurs went 2-0 vs. Cavs this year...Leonard owned Lebron in the last Finals they played vs. each other...(plus Durant is abusing him in this series, not direct to this point but worth mentioning)...yeah, he's right.

Leonard outscored him in both games this year, including a 41 pt game in Cleveland. It seems logical to say that he was the best player on the floor, when they played this year.

Because that's relevant.

Lebron was the best player on the court in that Finals, ho hum.

Lebron was better than KD last night. He's been slightly better than LeBron, at best, through 2 games.

That's why I was saying earlier that the West Champ would carry the Finals if seeds 1-3 made it out.

Hell, the depleted Spurs managed to keep games closer than the Cavs have so far. That speaks volumes.

Bestern Conference

Incorrect. He's the best 1v1 James defender in the game today, but he was just beginning to become that in 2014. Plus he was not the offensive juggernaut in 2014 that he is today.

Spurs beat the Heat with their depth and ball movement. Made James have to carry too much of the load by himself. And he was the best individual player on the floor.

Oooooh, Spurs are the second best team.

What's the trophy you get for that?

The Bulls beat the Cavs all 4 times they played this year. Cavs didn't really try in the regular season, I'm not sure how you can draw reasonable conclusions based on those games (other than, because you simply want to)

In the regular season, sure. I think it would be a close series if they played in a 7 game series. Vegas released hypothetical series odds during the conference finals and Cavs were slight favorites. Like -150.

No, it's just because you don't like the stat. 7 straight years. He's beat good teams in those years as well. The Bulls had the best record in the NBA and the MVP. Hawks won 60+ games. Pacers had good teams. The East hasn't been as good as the West, there's no debate there. But it isn't as bad as the detractors would lead you to believe. It certainly isn't bad enough to entirely discredit winning it 7 years in a row

He's also got 3 titles in that timespan, probably 4 if Love/Kyrie/JR don't miss the 2015 finals. It's not like he gets there and doesn't belong. The only lopsided finals were 2014 against the Spurs when the Heat were not very good, and definitely benefitted from a weak east (But Lebron was still the best player in the league), and potentially this year against arguably the greatest basketball team ever.
