I’m pretty sure Russillo doesn’t respect anyone there outside of Bill he sounds miserable whenever he has one of the others on with him.

I was loving Ryen and Chris Long talk about their trip to NOLA - especially the parts about Jay Cutler and how rad Jay is

No one at that company actually breaks down sports.
It’s always “x player doing x things.”
“He’s one of the top 12-15 players in the league.” After already listing 50 players with the same superlative.

Russillo is the only saving grace for the ringer. The rest is so bad. I tried giving “the rewatchables” a shot but dear god. They find everything to be problematic

anti-union middle class trump voters are a spectacle

Sooo a lot of ringer’s staff is making their displeasure on how the situation is being handled on Twitter. (Check out @ringerunion) calling out “upper management” for keeping them in the dark and not saying a thing about what’s going on.

This morning we announced that @spotify is acquiring The Ringer. Couldn’t be more excited to work with @eldsjal and his phenomenal team.
More details to come down the road... but @ringer will remain @ringer in every respect. They appreciate what we do and they want us to be us.

Spotify is making a lot of moves recently to basically own podcasting. I wonder how long it is until a legit big boy (Apple, Google, etc.) buy Spotify. that HAS to be the plan

frick your union
Spotfify's ascent is pretty amazing. They got way out in front of the streaming subscription music services (I believe Jobs said that model would never work) and have held off Amazon and Apple to maintain that lead.

I was a day 1 Spotify customer, is still remember people saying it wasn’t going to last and it’s a waste of money because you don’t “own” any of the music
2 biggest factors imo were: essentially giving it away for free to college students. Basically nurturing your market at a young age to create customers for the next 20 years
And always focusing on the quality of the app and the sleekness of the app.
Amazon has a frick ton of money but can’t figure out how to make a functionable and cool looking interface with their main side products like Amazon music and Amazon streaming. They look like a illegal stream site and I think that’s a huge reason why they can’t get ahead of their competitors despite being the largest company in the world

well it probably helps that spotify is solely in the streaming music business and allocate all of their resources into making it as seamless as possible.
but yeah I've had Spotify from pretty much the start, at the time I thought no way the record companies allow this for very long. By the time the other guys got in the game I had years worth of playlists I wasn't moving over especially since the subscription prices were basically the same. Since they continue to add new features I enjoy like the playlists they make for me.
it is odd Apple continues to find themselves behind the eight ball on things like streaming music, video, home ecosystems, etc.

You seem really in touch with the current tax code
Anyways, Rusillo and Simmons on the NBA is some of the best sports talk I've heard. I'm not really an NBA guy but they do the most in-depth analysis and really get into the weeds about contracts/trades that you don't get on your typical ESPN day time show.

Let's see if the entire staff puts out exclusive drumpf sucks content and then strikes

If they dropped the "what's aged the worst" segment, that'd be a much more enjoyable podcast.

I love that the ringer union twitter was freaking out that simmons didn’t update them on the purchase.
As if upper managements anywhere would tell their shite tier employees what’s going on with a hundred million+ sale

I’ll give them credit, they have done this for the most part. They sometimes still have the segment but they usually focus on era type things aging badly and not “problematic” things. Simmons had a couple of them where he kind of fought back on the others making such a big deal about that kind of stuff
I think the biggest difference is Simmons will bring something like that up as a joke while the others will bring it up like an actual crime has been committed.
Chris Ryan sounded like he was giving a police report of the incident for the American Pie webcam scene and refused to even acknowledge it was funny.

I kinda hate the logic of that segment sometimes because scenes like that have actually aged beautifully in the sense that they are very true to the era.
It’s stupid to say it aged bad when dudes the next 15 years sharing nudes that they got. Really wasn’t until the fappenning that things changed
