People say that hitting 50% is good. How is that good when you can flip a coin or draw team names out of a hat and hit 50%. All you need is 52.5% to breakeven. Shouldn’t the human mind be able to improve that much over flipping a coin?
Seems that way, but few win. I know I didn’t.

An actual coin flip is actually a better bet than a typical ATS sports bet, ironically, lol.

At least in a coin flip you’re not starting out behind (vig). And that’s not even getting into the discussion about natural/inherent human biases, which there aren’t in an actual coin flip.

I'm sure you're a hoot at parties.

The thing I hate about the widespread legalization thats going on is how it's morphed sports talk radio into sports betting talk. It's just like fantasy football, I don't give a shite about your team. Just give me the news and rumors, if I want to look at the lines I can check my phone.

yeah most of the generic gambling content is really dull and worthless.

getting hot women to push parlays on twitter also seems to be all the rage right now

If you follow most “analysts”, their records are usually bellow 50% ats. For example, cbs website has a group of sportswriters that pick games each week ats. All but one guy has a losing record. It shows you flawed reasoning behind these picks as humans overvalue and undervalue things that are biased to them.

Also, break even percentage is 52.3 for 10% line and 51.2% for 5% line. But these are based on 50/50 outcomes. But if you look for props, there are some that has a 2:1 outcome ratio. In fact, there are some that has a 4.5: to 1 ratio.

Yep

Don’t get me wrong…I enjoy sports gambling as much or more than the next guy (I’m not one of those to tell people to stop doing it and save their money), because I know there is absolutely an entertainment/fun value in it, even if you lose. But I do get a laugh out of the “expert” analysts and self-proclaimed expert amateurs that have their own “system” for trying to regularly beat a coin flip, lol. And to make matters worse, the coin flip wasn’t even a 50/50 coin flip to begin with.

Lol, yeah that’s a lot of work and stress for very little (or usually negative in the longrun) return. But to each their own I guess, as long as they get some enjoyment out of it.

For sure, but when I lived in Vegas that was me. Doing small bets parlays and all of sudden you are down like 500 on a weekend

And I always said to myself. Frick if I only bet 500 on Alabama to destroy ppl in the first half I would be loving life

So I changed strategy. And now don't even watch the games after I bet to lessen the stress

Go sit in a bar or a sportsbook with a group of your friends one Saturday from 11am till Hawaii and bet the sheet. You will either have a great time and understand, or you aren't someone I would want to hang around.

u have to know your limitations and what sports you are good at. i refuse to bet NFL. it IS the hardest to win. so much parity.

i will bet college football but my bread and butter is NHL and MLB system plays all year and then playoffs. moneyline plays.

same here. i hardly ever watch games i wager on. far too many baseball and hockey games i'd have to watch. trust the system

I was betting a lot of pucks last year and it made me crazy. I got sucked in by under 6.5 so many times.

i avoid over/under bets.

so much volume in NHL and MLB my ML systems work great.

in college football u simply cannot force plays ATS. either it is there or it is not. not enough volume and as far as ML on football? you will lose your arse if you lose straight up.
