In your opinion was Michael Jordan more skilled than Steph Curry is now?

Just looking for the popular opinion

You're trying to compare the greatest player of all time to a guy just beginning his career?

which skills? Offensively, Stephen has every move MJ has and then a few more just because certain basketball moves and counters, step backs and variations have evolved. But it's not because MJ was physically incapable of doing them. Steph is clearly a better shooter.

MJ is the better finisher, defender, shot-blocker, and scorer.

Probably equal at passing. Although Steph won a skills challenge or two.

If MJ played in today's league he would probably never win the MVP.

I mean I guess Curry is more "skilled." Better ball handler and shooter.

Once a player has an MVP, you can consider his prime started.

So far the thread isn't going how you thought it would without your trolling partner.

Not a huge basketball fan, but MJ is considered the best basketball player of all time, right?

And passer. It's a pretty simple answer. I think the definition of skill can make things a bit fuzzy, but under my understanding, it's pretty simple.

What's the angle here?

Steph Curry is very skilled if that answers the question.

I think he's more skilled, but that obviously doesn't mean he's a better player.

When I think skills in basketball, I think:

dribbling, passing, shooting.

And Curry is better at all 3.

MJ is by far the better basketball player because you add in his ability to drive, finish, and be physical. But those things arent commonly defined as skills

Yup. I know people are sensitive with Jordan, but I doubt anyone would argue that LeBron is more skilled than Curry even though he will almost definitely go down as the better player.

LeBron does have elite skills at his size though. And his passing is elite for any size. But shooting and dribbling are nowhere near Steph.

They possess different skill sets. Curry better shooter, quicker release, does some nifty lay ups because he is a smaller dude and doesn't look to "attack" the basket and draw contact. Both are great ball handlers, you could easily argue steph curry is better. Jordan better at getting to the rim(skill) and finishing(better physical attributes). Jordan developed a post game that almost no other guard has ever had, which to me is the trump card.
