It's impossible to find the plate when the strikes from 2 outs ago are suddenly balls. Doesn't matter if he hasn't hit the plate much, the kid is under 15 pitches in and 3 of those balls were strikes in the top of the inning to take USM out of the bases loaded situation.

Problem is the ump has no idea what the strike zone is either. While the actual size of the zone seems to vary, at least the ump usually has some consistency, whether he likes the outside ones or inside ones, his left side or right side.
USM was taken out of a bases loaded situation by horrible strike calls inches off the plate to the ump's right, a pitch that would be tough as hell for the hitter to even touch. Bottom of the SAME inning, bases loaded, Texas walks on the exact pitches that struck out USM.
