I have an ECHL era IceGators jersey
Not that shitty SPHL knock off in the 2010s when they changed the logo a little

Went to tons of Birmingham Bulls games in the 1970s. Saw Gordie Howe playing with his son Mark and maybe young Gretzky in person, I seem to remember him with the Oilers but can't be sure. There was a plaque in the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center commemorating Gordie Howe's 1,000th goal. Maybe it's still there.

I loved watching the Pee Dee Pride. Unfortunately, the civic center in Florence was too cheap to do upgrades and pissed away the opportunity to keep them there.

West Virginia has a good history too. First games were played in Charleston at their local arena in 1938, and the sport came to Huntington a year later. Charleston Comets and Huntington Stars had a good rivalry and even played in a league with a team from Akron in 1941. However the Huntington rink burned down after the season and the Charleston one closed in 1942.
Later Huntington had a team called the Hornets in the International League in 56-57. The Wheeling Nailers (originally the Thunderbirds) have played in the ECHL since 1992-93. The Huntington Blizzard also played in the league from 1993-2000.

Mudbugs approaching GOAT status for southern minor league hockey. I get Juniors are alot different but still, 5x champs.

I watched the Mudbugs NAHL Championship game a few weeks back up in Blaine, MN. I think half of Shreveport made the trip north for that game. Mudbugs fans all over that building.

At one point in the 90s Louisiana had THREE professional hockey teams.
