Colin Klein is another guy that fits that mold. It was said during the heisman presentation (i believe), the first time he kissed his wife was on their wedding day. It is extremely difficult for society to believe someone to be as naive as Te'o portrays in his story. Since that is the case, we tend to believe he is in on it. That's the reason his sexuality is being questioned. Even if he is the most naive person in the world, he still lied to the media to cover up his image. Not very "choirboy-like."
It is my understanding that people are born either heterosexual or homosexual. Since homosexuality isn't widely accepted in the Mormon society, it would definitely be something he would want to cover up. This is just hypothetically speaking, but you can see him being homosexual would answer a lot of questions.

The timing of when the girlfriend first materialized does debunk my Heisman theory somewhat. I'll admit that.

The most likely scenario, BECAUSE of his beliefs, Islander culture, and football culture, is that he made it up as a cover for his non-heterosexuality.
The problem is that T'eo has to go to such lengths; that is a failing of our society.

^^^ I think this is the case. My wife has two gay relatives who grew up in very strict Baptist backgrounds who did similar things to hide their gayness until they were ready to come out as adults .

He already lied before, to what extent no one knows. If he wanted any future in the NFL, he had to say he was heterosexual.
