Do you think he can make it as a starter with 2 primary pitches

So has Mariano Rivera his whole career...oh wait

Mariano actually got to try his luck as a starter. Aroldis hasn't. It's not like he can't move back to the pen if it doesn't work out. Finding an elite starter isn't easy; finding a competent closer is much easier.

I agree. Too much talent to not give a shot.

He was working on it in the spring when he was trying to win the #5 role in the rotation.

I remember that now.

Man he's fun to watch.

Because he has Ace potential which outweighs having an elite closer. Id rather have him start and bring in a veteran closer. The closer role is overrated.

One thing to consider is that the guy the reds signed to be the closer if chapman won the 5 slot (broxton) has sucked massive dong this year.

That pitch is basically unhittable when you set it up with a 102 mph fastball.

Dear. God.

Until you need one to get 3 outs in an important game.

He has also had basically no impact on the Reds season this year. Someone cited it on the first page but he has thrown 2 innings when the score was within 2 runs. He may not be in the top 10 most meaningful players to this Reds season so far.
