I remember when people were all up in arms because Greg Schiano had his teams blowing up these victory formations. If the “unwritten rule” is the game is over in victory formation, then this is bullshite. And any team playing Tulane is well within their rights to blow this up

More assorted tweets like that but generally the same sentiment. They're just being salty, right? Don't stop playing until the clock says 0:00. Obviously if they're kneeling while up 3 TDs then don't blow their line up, but this was different.

Tie ball game is vastly different than down or up in victory formation.

Stupidest thing ever. Sorry but that’s on Houston’s Defense. Never assume anything. Play until it hits 0.

There's a point between blowing up the line and standing around like a statue.

Maybe it's NFL only. I thought you couldn't fake kneel? I know you can fake spike.

Unpopular opinion, faking a knee is chicken shite. Next time Tulane tries to kneel out the half or something, the opposing DL should fire off as hard as they can.

If Tulane goes into victory formation again this season, opposing team should put D-Line in 4 point and knee cap the o-line on snap while linebackers attack the backfield without remorse.

It wasn’t a fake kneel. It was a fumblerooskie in the victory formation.

Would it even apply though? They were in formation but there was no fake kneel.

Oh ok, didn't see the game or the play. Just assumed it was a fake kneel by the title.

NFL does it all the time with the fake spike and they throw it off that.

Nothing wrong with it.
I mean it was a longshot and it worked.
That play was one thing, giving up the long pass play was the real dagger.

That's good for Holgorson, I'm sure he will run it up next year in Houston. Good for Houston too, running off Applewhite. Ed Oliver was a one man wrecking crew for that d until he quit on his team.

That's what I was thinking. It was just a formation from which people often kneel. Secondly, it was a tie game and not a blowout so Houston ASSUMED it was a kneel given the down and clock situation. Third, I would be irate at the coaching staff of Houston if I was a cougar fan that they didn't have a "safe" defensive formation.

Absolutely no reason to get mad at Tulane. Their coach has some huge marbles and it paid off.

Why do they call it a fake kneel. They were in victory formation, but he never faked a kneel. He faked a run one way and the running back went the other way.

The HC or Qb informs the wing official or the white hat that they will go into victory and take a knee.... the wing officials pinch in from their sideline position and the U and R also pinch in.. .. the fact that they were all in their normal locations.. was glaring that TU was running a play. the UH players bit on the fake..

Yea, i saw the play now.

Victory formation run. Meh. You're tied. Assume the worst.
