During his playing days, the dude was gold as a personality.

Since he's been out of the game, of course he sucks. Very few can manage to keep that personality after the game. Barkley is literally one of the few.

I'm sorry but the ESPN superman commercial with him and Hannah Storm was hilarious. One of the better sportcenter commercials.

Steve Irwin and Jimmy the NASCAR dude Johnson take the cake.

I think it is weird Orlando would market him that way when he isn't close to as good as Shaq was in Orlando.

He isn't the offensive player Shaq was but Defensively he is hands down,no question better than Shaq was on his best day. Better rebounder too.

But still not nearly as good as Shaq in his glory days.

The ESPN commentators during the all star game first dubbed him superman. After that he took it and ran with it.

As far as being egotistical, i don't see it in this kid. Read some info on him and you'll see what i mean.
Egotistical = Shaq and his hundreds of nicknames

Me either, he seems like a decent enough of a guy. He doesn't have that asshat quality that a lot of the better players have. I don't think he's fake, because you can see him joking on the sidelines during games and having fun before games. He and Chuck in the commercials seem pretty real too.

everything i have ever read on him all comes to the same conclusion. He loves the game, not for the fame or money but because he genuinely loves to play basketball. I respect a guy like that, who shows he's loving this game.

I like Howard as a player and he seems to be a great human being. But ESPN needs to stop encouraging him to be a giant nerd on national TV.

Just accept it. He can't touch Shaq.

Shaq averaged 29 ppg twice in Orlanda and Dwight has never come close.

He averaged 2.4 apg and Howard has never done that.

Shaq had a 14rpg one season with Orlando just like Howard.

Shaq averaged 3.5 bpg with Orlando which Hiward has not done.

Looks as if Shaq was clearly better to me.

Dwight is a better rebounder and all-around defender than Shaq ever was.
There's a reason Dwight is the two time defensive POY and Shaq never made a 1st team all-defense.
He's got better franchise per-game rebounding numbers and has most of shaqs team rebounding records

Shaq averaged 2.7 per game with the magic.

Howard vs Shaq... Hum, let's see, how would Shaq have done in 1995 against the Celtic centers Howard played against yesterday???

Well Shaq is 38 years old.

Howard does not live up to the Superman level Shaq set earlier in his career.
