doesnt mention any specifics on either side
Either side? The freakin HEADLINE says he's"guaranteeing the tuition"and he's "running the school"...two completele falsehoods.Gee,not slanted in the least,is it?

dont blame your lack of knowledge on the article
I first brought the specifics to the MSB and I didn't find the details until I found a local Ohio paper online.
What is so difficult about dedicating 1 paragraph in the CNN article to the details???
You know as well as I do had the Koch Brothers,Newt Gingrich or someone named Trump had struck a similar deal the headlines in almost every outlet would say how much the city was spending along with exactly who was paying the tuition.

It literally in the article says its a partnership between lebron and the Akron public schools
Lebron is the one that ran the show and got this done

What? The falsehoods I mentioned where tuition "gaurantee" and him "running the school"

Not quite the same as "running the school" is it?
Good God,even the district was pissed at the coverage
quote:
"The coverage made it look like the whole thing is his," said district spokesman Mark Williamson. "He did a lot, but taxpayers should know it's their investment too."
Is it that difficult to see that there was bias and narrative with much of the coverage?

You lost me at Clay Travis. Please remind us of what public school that you’re contributing money to outside of your own tax payer dollars? God for bid some man actually help our community and educate our children. I don’t see the Donald donating his money to inner-city kids to get a college education.

Y’all constantly say “I wish athletes would stop talking about bettering their community and actually do something”. Yet, here you are, bitching because LeBron is trying to make a difference

I'm not referring specifically to any one poster or group of posters here, but there is a healthy percentage of people who bitch when black players talk about helping their community, and bitch when they act to help their community.
Makes one wonder what is really driving their hatred for certain players.
No matter what these athletes do, its never enough.

Is it annoying that the media spun it to make LeBron look even better? Probably a little. Others don’t get that benefit.
Am I going to hate on him for doing something for his community? Hell no.
Could all of us do more for our communities and for charities? Without a doubt.

Geez how selfish is this LaBrawn character? Joe Schmoe personally funds 25% of a school everyday.
I think the issue is with he and the media insinuating that this was “Lebron’s school” and that he was responsible for all of it, when in reality, just 1/4.
Also I’m pretty sure it was reported that Lebron was covering the scholarships, which apparently he’s not either.

Please link or give examples of posters bitching about other "black athletes" who were helping "their communities"

What pert of other "black athletes" do you not understand????

You do know what that means, correct?

Harden gave a million to Hurricane Funds in Houston.
Chris Paul just gave a couple million to Wake Forest.
Suh (even him of all people) have a couple million to University of Nebraska.
Patrick Peterson has a major charity for families in Phoenix.
Warrick Dunn (my favorite athlete of all time), is well-known for his charity, most notably for helping hundreds of low-SES families buy homes (including Deshaun Watson’s family a decade ago).
Alonzo Mourning has been recognized for years for his charitable work.
It only takes a quick google search to find a plethora of athletes giving back to their communities, their universities, medical research, etc. The fact you had to ask this question, and somehow didn’t know about these nor took 2 seconds to Google it, says more about you than anything else.

Do a little reading before you fly off the hook dumbass.
LSU Pride was referencing posters who continually criticize "black athletes" who give back to their communities and I asked for EXAMPLES OF THESE CRITICISMS other than Lebron...capeche???

So... He had the initiative to use his own money with the help of our side funding to set up a school to help kids in need, but because he didn't actually pay for every dime it's less worthwhile? What the frick is this?
Also, why is it a surprise that the University of Akron would pay for scholarships? What school doesn't?
This just sounds like petty bullshite.
