re: So the Bengals get screwed in all of this

it's actually even WORSE than all of this.
the bengals "won" the afc north no matter what right now. but if they lose to the ravens this weekend, they have a coin flip for the home game because they could have lost the afc north had they also lost to the bills.
so the bengals could win the afc north, get a worse draft pick, have the first place schedule next year, AND play on the road in the first round of the playoffs. they could literally get all the penalties of winning the division and NONE of the benefits. it's fricking INSANE.
the ONLY possible benefit that the bengals could get out of all of this is if they lose to the ravens and then win the coin flip. even under that very specific and roughly 30% likelihood or so, they looked like they were going to win on monday and should have just won the division anyway, but with the home game.
ETA: i have lived in cincinnati for 8 years and everyone is pissed

Nola Tiger LSU calls you a liar
By the way, Bengal twitter all hates this. The unequal application of giving the Ravens a shot at a coin flip with the Bengals, but not the Bengals a shot at a coin flip with the Bills is the main sticking point.

That's a microcosm of society today, everyone has to always be outraged about something.

You’re right…I’m outraged that you showed up in this thread.

I'm not a Bengals fan, but I am a fan of logic and order.
If a team can't play, they forfeit. NFL should have forfeited the game instead of being politically correct.

Since the game "didn't happen", the NFL should give back all that ad revenue.

Hamlin has made a miraculous recovery and should be the main story but instead here we are worried about whether a team will lose a coin flip and a home game in the playoffs.
Our priorities are all kind of FUBAR'd.
Faux outrage.

This is the correct answer.

What they do is so unimportant to you that you spend your free time frequently discussing them on a message board.
Come up with some new material. Pretty tired line you have there. Put a little effort behind it.
So yeah, what they do is not important. It's entertainment.

Well, why stop the non-caring there? Let’s just cancel the whole season together.

Ravens can beat the Bengals and force a coin flip for a home field matchup based on the assumption Bengals could have lost Week 17.
Ravens would have gotten screwed by having to play (and lose to) the Bills and Bengals not. The Ravens always get the benefit from the NFL, quite opposite of the Saints.
In the end it won’t matter, the Ravens offense sucks without Lamar, and looks like Tyler Huntley is hurt too. They’re not beating the Bengals. If they do, then the Bengals have no one to blame but themselves for losing twice to the Ravens and going 2-4 in their division.
The Steelers and Browns would have a better divisional record than them. Anyone know if a team has won their division before by having the outright worst divisional record?

In one post, you’re saying his recovery should be the headline and trump all decisions over the results of the game and then another post, you say a team should forfeit if they can’t play - implying you’re still caring what the NFL decides

We are good man and I wasn’t trying to personally go at you either. I love the passion and pride everyone has for their alumni in the pros and think people should celebrate them and not be so critical of who people cheer for.
We just need a good name now for the LSU/Burrow/Bengal fans(like Camthers). Joengles, Burrgals, I don’t know, can’t think of one as good as Camthers, haha

Bengals Coach Zac Taylor (who is normally very milquetoast as it comes to griping at officials) just had some interesting comments:
- as far as I’m concerned, we just want the rules followed. you don’t want to make up any rules
- it’s an opportunity lost. We had control and now we don’t. There are a lot of positives for other teams, and only negatives for us
- (on team’s front office) I love they they are fighting for us, somebody has to because it’s obvious the league isn’t
- (Taylor) doesn’t want to hear about “fair and equitable” when rules are being changed on the fly

“Zac Taylor should stop caring so much. It’s just footballs” - 1st page of this thread
I’m still cracking up at these abortions of posts
It’s like the complete opposite of what my own eyes see reading Bengals’ fans posts online
quote:
It’s a game and the players are still millionaires
It affects your life 0
I’d wager you seemingly care about this more than any bengals player

I can tell you my brother in law is from cincy, went to UC, and has a large group of bengals fans that I know personally as well. Prob 8-10 of them I play fantasy with and have an active FF group text where we have been discussing this regularly
None of them are complaining. A couple were in attendance as well, so it probably felt a bit different seeing it in-person.

Wow. So you know 10 people who aren't upset. I guess that settles it.

This is inaccurate.
First, if he’s talking about 2nd/3rd seed, then yes not playing that game sucks for them. But he can’t just assume they would have won on Monday night. That’s not “fair and equitable” to the Bills to make them forfeit.
Second, if he’s talking about the division, the Bengals are still in control.
If the roles were reversed and the tie would have screwed them for the division, he would be signing a different tune. He needs to man up and stop acting like Anthony Brown is going to beat them on Sunday.

Not sure what’s more intolerable. The Camther fans or the Burrow Bengal fanboys
