So the 4 seed won.

Does that mean the human committee eyeball test isn't good enough to decide who should be in? They had 3 teams they thought were more deserving going in.

No we don't. If you move it to eight then somewhere down the road you are going to want 16. Regardless if 4 won or not this is a stupid argument.

Of the 16 teams to make the CFP, 15 have deserved it. Only 2017 Alabama was undeserving.

Alabama or Georgia would not be in it under the old rules. Yet they proved to be the ones most deserving. Championships should be won on the field.

Last Year’s tOSU. Didn’t look like the #4 team in the country, didn’t win their Conference but was the only B1G team. Then didn’t score a single point.

Uh, the #4 ranked team won the very first College Football Playoff.

Terrible argument.
If anything, the argument against the eye test is the multiple arse kickings that have happened in Semifinal games. I think something like 6 of the 8 have been decided by double digits, with 2 shutouts in there.
Also, how does expanding to 8 help the case against the eye test? What if the #7 team wins it all one year? Do we need to expand to 16 then? Where does it stop?
