re: So I'm just tuning into Wilder/Fury hype. Question: Why is Wilder booed at weigh-in?

Wilder seems like a good, genuine dude.

Do you really think there’s some big racist agenda in here with “these people?”

Can you not be open to the idea that maybe, just maybe the biggest personality in boxing in quite some time (especially in the marquee division) is going to be REALLY popular? Boxing fans have always loved a showman.

Absolutely can’t wait for this fight. Love both these dudes.

The media brought it up in press conference and Wilders people have also. Fury basically called them out for it.

I ventured to Sun Sports after Ryan Newman wrecked earlier this week to see if they were talking about it. Even on Tuesday, 90% of their content was related to Fury/Wilder. The Brits love Fury.

I met Wilder at the Tuscaloosa Sam's club just a couple of years ago. Probably around the time of his first few fights with Stiverne.
Nice guy. Seemed humble to me.

Further, from what I hear at his boxing gym in town, he's always teaching the art of boxing to the youth and really trying to help them get better

I met him several times when I worked in Tuscaloosa. He was both nice and knowledgable about sports.

He's proud of his hometown and I've never heard anyone in Tuscaloosa speak poorly of him.

Because Fury won the first fight.

Fury definitely outboxed Wilder, but the only reason he even finished the fight is because his head is apparently filled with concrete. I thought a draw was a fair outcome.

So Tyson Fury is from England, Wilder is from America? Is that right?

I don't pay attention to this stuff but need to know who to pull for. Due to a set up at my work, all the PPV events are broadcast on TV's and I may go up there to watch it since it's like 5 minutes away.

NM, I googled the easy answer. Guess I'm pulling for Wilder.

Agreed

They did the same for Ricky Hatton when he faced Mayweather. This is typical

It does sound like he's a good guy. They were talking on the coverage for the weigh in that he plays basketball in the local cop league or something to that effect. Maybe it was a local basketball league but also helps out with the cops or something.

I haven't kept up with boxing in years, I watched the first fight between the two and my initial reaction was that wilder was weird and fury was fun to watch. Definitely like wilder the more I hear about him.

Anyone says that Fury won, doesn't know boxing. Dude had a seriously long count to stay in that fight once Wilder dropped his arse for a 2nd time. Sure of it would've went to the judges without the knock down, I agree Fury all day.

It was a decision win for Wilder the first go round, but the big wigs stepped in and demanded the judges rule it a draw in order to protect their investment in Fury.

Absolutely no doubt Wilder should have got the decision win that night.

I don’t have anything against Wilder. I’d root for him against some random British dude. Fury is just an elite showman that captivates people. There’s nothing racial about it. If someone perceives a racial element they are likely projecting some sort of prejudice or hostility of their own.

Apparently you don’t understand boxing. There was no long count. Also CSAC rules demand that ref take extra time after he counted to ask questions. It’s not 10 seconds it’s a count. And counts usually are 1.2 seconds. He was up in time.

It was same argument that King tried for Tyson in Japan on the count. In both cases they beat the count and they were knowing what was going on.

You're the only person in the world that thinks this. Maybe you have them confused.
