I’ve had Peacock for years. Not sure if it’s still free but it was free for Cox users. I’ve watched Sunday Night Football all year with it along with some other shows I watch.

Love all of the folks up in arms in this thread realizing that there’s a ton of people who don’t get bent out of shape for paying $5.00 a month for a streaming service that also has good shows and movies as well as EPL and Golf. Or who know how sign up for a free trial for an app and then cancel, bc it takes two minutes.

Should consider reevaluating your life decisions and general capability to function in the year 2024 if having to watch something on a streaming service is a huge issue for you

I feel like I’m the only person in America who had Peacocktv before yesterday. It’s how I watch The Office.

Office and Parks and Rec are two I can always drop in on.

Twisted Metal was fun. Poker Face was fantastic.

Holdovers which has one a few different awards is streaming there right now as well.

Outside of True Detective it’s better than Max currently.

I don't think it's as much an issue of people "getting bent out of shape" as much as it is a discussion of if the NFL is unnecessarily running the risk of losing some of their massive audience.

I'm an NFL fan. But not enough that I purchase an extra package to watch games such as "Sunday Ticket" (which doesn't have a huge subscribership). I watch my local team and the network games broadcast in my region. I suspect most NFL fans are like me. And if you don't have a rooting interest in the teams playing, it's probably for many not worth the hassle of signing up for another streaming service....even if the cost is "just" $5.

If you are a fan of EPL and Golf you probably already have the service. If not, you probably didn't feel like paying $5 to watch a game you had no real vested interest in. For NBC/Peacock the decision to exclusively stream the game was not simply to get a big one-time audience. It was a gateway to get people to subscribe and watch their original content long after the game was over. THAT is the key figure to look at. How many people are going to stick around as subscribers?

Ads through the first 3 quarters. They did make a big deal of going ad free for the 4th quarter.

With the game not in doubt in the 4th, I doubt it had the intended effect.

Not buying the 23 million number.

Read somewhere that Peacock only has about 30 million subscribers, so that number would mean 75% or so of their subscribers watched? I don't think so.

It was a huge win for peacock. More downloads, streams, activity than ever before for them. More people talking about peacock than the actual game.

Whether or not it was good for the NFL is another story which we won’t know for some time.

the NFL is making a shite ton of money right now. They're not without faults, but generally they know what they're doing despite what you may read on here.
This Peacock deal was a one time deal (for now) with NFC. For experimenting, I'm guessing.
The good thing for them is, for this one year, it was best case scenario with the Taylor Swift hype.
The bad thing is, now the data is going to be hard to analyze moving forward because Taylor Swift is a big deal and will obviously skew the numbers big time.
