Florida at 3?

2 losses just like A&M and they beat A&M at their place, they have a great D, and had about everything go wrong for them in the Sugar Bowl

unless we're gonna put a lot of extra emphasis on the bowl games and not look at the season as a whole, then yea they are in my top 5

Florida has wins @ aTm and @FSU, that's impressive

Wait numerous people have Florida in their top 5s?

Yeah, what did Florida do this year other than beat LSU, A&M, South Carolina, and Florida St (all ten win teams or better)? What a bunch of chumps, beating four top 10-15 teams.

If A&M is not No. 1, they would be No. 2...

A&M played an easier schedule than Florida yet has the same record AND lost to the Gators at home. I do not see how anyone can rank the Aggies ahead of the Gators. I really don't, unless we're so taken by recency bias.

And I don't even like Florida.

Florida didn't play Alabama...A&M played Alabama and beat them on the road. Including bowl games, the schedule is probably a wash.

Florida and A&M played in early September...seems like a year ago.

Florida was pummeled in their bowl game. A&M pummeled OU in their bowl game.

At the end of the season, A&M is playing better than Florida.

2012 Florida is one of the biggest enigma's to me.

They clearly had the best resume and frankly should have been playing Notre Dame since we don't care about winning conference titles (or does that standard only apply to other teams that don't win a conference?). But I don't think I've seen a team with that good of a resume, look that unipressive.

Lulz at ND in the top 5

lulz at not having them. The season is 13-14 games, not 1.

Florida and Louisville are lurking just behind 5.

I don't think ND beats any of these aforementioned teams.

I would put money and give 7 points on any of the Big Six SEC teams to beat Notre Dame in a championship game setting,

Additionally, I think Vandy and Ole Miss would have an even shot at beating them.

I said it numerous times before the game Monday on a number of sports boards. Notre Dame was vastly overrated by a sports media dying for anyone to upset the SEC apple cart and its now 7-year dominance. There was all kinds of evidence from Notre Dame's regular season that belied the notion that they were even a top 10 team much less a No. 1 team.

which, if there was ever a thread where people should be allowed to be so taken, it might be this one. this thread is basically a "What team is playing the best right now?" thread.

this is not a "Who has the best resume thread?" (or at least that is the way i have interpreted it). i don't think you are wrong putting florida in your top 5 (i know you havent actually done so, but it appears you would). i also dont think people not putting florida in their top 5 are wrong, either.

They were 12-0, they played 9 or 10 BCS teams, so yes they were a top 10 team.

No Ohio St on almost all of these lists

In no particular order :

Bama
Ohio State
Oregon
Georgia

Tough call to pick a 5th.
