Several years ago, I watched the LSU game at the small bar at the Four Seasons in Los Colinas. We were there for a girls' weekend of spa & tennis to celebrate my birthday and spent 3:30 on watching the SEC games and drinking.
Gruden and the crew for the Cowboys game (7 of them) came in around 5:00 and our 2 groups were the only people there. We shut that bar down at 1 am after watching and arguing about all the SEC matchups that evening. Gruden was a blast and laughed when I accidentally called him Chuckie to his face. They were all really down to earth and a lot of fun to hang out with on a Saturday night of football.

My biggest issue with Gruden is that he's being paid this absurd amount of money to be a color commentator while ESPN is having all of these layoffs. Do people tune in to watch MNF just to hear Gruden call a game? I don't consider him to be this indispensable announcer like Al Michaels or John Madden back in the day or Marv Albert or Vin Scully.

Simmons really looks like a bitch here. There may be some valid points in that, but when you were essentially fired from ESPN/had a feud, you can’t come out looking good here.

Sounds like Simmons is pissed more because Gruden knew how to work a room and people seemed to be glad to see him, while he was the type that people at ESPN seemed to tolerate more than anything.
That probably got under his skin because he thought himself "highly valuable" or even "irreplaceable" to ESPN.

I like Gruden and Romo calling games. Gruden is the only ESPN personality I like. Simmons sounds very jealous and would probably like to listen to Jemele Hill and Beth Mowins call games. This article comes off very immature.
