we are even. 12 counted against us last year.

I assume you mean this year (2012). And you're back counting 3 of your 18 for 2013 to fill the open spots under 15. If that's right it sounds like he is going to cost you a spot in your '13 class.

And where do you currently stand with the 75?

If we had a time machine and let 11 Bama or 11 LSU play 01 Miami like they were in 2001 Bama and LSU would win.

last year's recruiting class I mean. Hard to predict the final year. We could have someone who does not qualify who will sit out.

Right now 74 or 75, but that could change

SC's D this year is fricking stout. See my in depth post a few pages ago

C'mon, SC is going to have one the least experienced dlines in all of CFB. If you lose UKO or Horton at this point, it will be a catastrophe.

Easily best secondary in country.

Really Really good Linebackers.

DLine lacks depth/experience, but still talented.

In 01 no one thought that team was super amazing. It is just hindsight because of where their players were drafted.

Well articles from that time believed they were dominant - that it wouldn't have mattered who Miami played that year...despite the controversy with Oregon/Nebraska...similar to USC in '04. They were touting the talent at that time...

Rarely this past decade has that happened...sportswriters writing that it didn't matter who these two teams played amidst the usual BCS squabble at the end. So these two teams do stand out as BCS controversy busters.

'01 Miami

quote:

In the end, it didn’t matter who lined up on the Rose Bowl’s other sideline. In fact there probably didn’t need to be one. The Rose Bowl people could have used it to display the floats, or store Regis Philbin’s hair gel, or stick the remaining 37 Nebraska residents who weren’t already in the stands.

Because Miami was national champion before it ever got on the plane to come eat beef and visit Disneyland.

The reason the ‘Canes are 2001 national champion is not because they started high in the polls or because their conference doesn’t have a championship, but because roughly five years ago, Butch Davis and Larry Coker began assembling a collection of talent, leadership, depth and balance that by the time this season arrived was unmatched anywhere else in the country.

- Sports Illustrated

'04 USC
quote:

In dismantling the supposed second-best team in the country 55-19, the USC Trojans left no doubt as to which was the best team in college football this season. If indeed this was the Game of the Century, perhaps Oklahoma can use the next 95 years to catch up.

The great 2005 Orange Bowl was no classic. It was a classic mismatch. The question isn't whether Auburn could have beaten the Trojans, but whether they would have suffered a less embarrassing fate than the Sooners.

Robey is like 5'2". LSU has dbs that are more physical and harder match up problems.

Their starting 3 are excellent. After that the depth is really murky.

At this point, they don't lack experience, they have none. Their two deep will likely have 5 guys that never played a down of D1 football. Highly rated players fill out the rotation on most deep teams. They don't start. LSU fans were disappointed in the lack of production for Freak, a physically ready player. The mental side takes time.

True dat. The men of Troy embarrassed OU in the BCS CG like no other team has been embarrassed--until recently.

they are arguably the most talented team ever assembled but no one at the time was calling them the best team of all time. The success those players have had in the pros lifted that teams legacy. They were great no doubt but IMHO there have been several teams in the BCS era that can hang with them.

Just pointing out that everyone believes their talent was only brought up because of the draft picks later. As in, "hey in hindsight" that team was so talented.

They were touting that teams talent before as unmatched in CFB by far.

No other team is even close to having this kind of talent across the board. We could be talking about the greatest team of all time here. When USC is playing their best, no team in the country wants to go up against them. BM: I'm gonna go change my pants.
OK that's funny, and I don't care who you are.

Let's see

2004 NC (13-0)
2005 #2 (12-1)
2006 #4(11-2)
2007 #5 (11-2)
2008 #3 (12-1)
2009 (9-4)
2010 (8-5)
2011 #5 (10-2)

I think you mean 2 of the last 5-8 years. But don't let facts affect your biased thinking.
