What? you just making shite up? He sprinted through the finish line normally to set the state record

I posted the video. He ran a completely normal finish

I am not interested in a technical discussion of sprinting, but as soon as he held his hand up, he lost speed. It is simple physics, and he would never have done it with a runner on his shoulder because he almost certainly knows better.

Usain Bolt looking around and realizing he was going to win before crossing the finish line was an awesome moment.

Looking around isn't a hand jesture.

Why is celebrating considered bad?

Celebrate after the finish line.

You see any golfers celebrate before the last put to win major?

So the fun game doesn’t allow him to celebrate? ?

He wasn’t taunting anyone

I would explain it to you, but you still wouldn't get it.

He crossed the line first. He won the race. Bunch of pussies out there. Leave that soft shite in day care. Man up sensitive soy boys

They don't allow hand gestures because that will lead to taunting and that will lead to fights in the stands.

I grew up in the 80s. We taunted but didnt have 100 person brawls in the parking lot.

This was stupid…. Kid wasn’t taunting, etc… I’d be pissed
he had been warned already. If he hadn’t been warned then I’d agree but if they warned him he should have known better.

The race is over. What the hell is he being “warned” about?
on the surface I agree it looks bad.

I will add we don’t know what he said.

I work tons of track meets and have seen several situations like this where it wouldn’t look bad if you weren’t hearing what they’re saying but they’re cussing up a storm (which is a dq in the nfhs rule book).

Bump.

The disqualification was overturned by the NCHSAA. The team was reinstated as co-champions in the 4x400, which in turn makes them co-champions in the overall standings.

The Appeals Board vacated the disqualification from the 4×400 relay. After review and discussion, the NCHSAA Board of Directors voted to declare Mallard Creek High School and C.E. Jordan High School as co-champions of the 2026 NCHSAA 8A Men’s Track and Field State Championship. The Board also voted to recognize Mallard Creek High School and Hough High School as co-champions in the men’s 4×400-meter relay.

Must’ve been enough out there to clear the kid. Good on them for doing the right thing if that’s the case.
