Should the Big 10 rearrange their divisions?

Bring back the Leaders and Legends divisions

They don't need to do anything w/divisions. The West will eventually get a few.

none of the other competitive teams in the east make any sense either. can't just bust up michst, ohiost and mich.

The way they do almost ensures their playoff contender from the East gets a “quality” win to end the season.

The SEC East is 1-12 in the last 13 now too.

Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota are legit programs these days and NW always jumps up. Purdue has life. You could easily find 3 top 25 teams in a given year. They're very "Pac 12ish" in that they eat each other and because of that have accepted mediocrity.

Wisconsin, Minnesota and Nebraska, at least, under the right coach, could be a consistent threat. Iowa is, I think, basically maxed out and due for a big fall as soon as Ferentz goes.

And hear me out- There are approaching 6 million people in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Those areas, including the Dakotas, are extremely powerful in the lower tiers of football. Between the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin, you're talking around 13, 14 million people in the upper midwest and 2 programs. Maybe 16 million and 3 if you include Nebraska. Yeah, it's not AS talent rich but if you've ever spent any time in the area- There are a bunch of large, large men out there. A lot of it comes down to a complete lack of spring and summer ball. There isn't anywhere near the full time development you see elsewhere, and that's what really speaks.

There's a way for them to be good. It's just old timey, grindy football, and they need to find a way to make that attractive to kids that might be 3rd or 4th choices down south. They've just been bad at recruiting, and they aren't doing much locally to take big kids who can barely tie their own shoes and teaching them to play ball.

They can though. They're not lacking on money. Wisconsin is RICH. Minnesota could be if they got their shite together for a decade. They could go dollar to dollar with anyone in the right situation. They have real, large fanbases. The ingredients are there. The West shouldn't be as weak as it is, except Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan can recruit nationally because of past success while those schools need to break through (or in Nebraska and Minnesota's cases re-break through).

tldr; It's more likely Wisconsin, Nebraska or Minnesota will be REALLY fricking good than, say, South Carolina.

IMO it's more likely Wisconsin, Nebraska or Minnesota puts together a team of super seniors in the trenches with some carefully scouted 3 and low 4 stars that can compete with almost anyone than it is teams outside the privileged few jump and snag one of the SEC elite when it matters.

LSU, Bama, Georgia, Florida when they stop fricking around- Monster programs. Aggie, Texas, Oklahoma all can be there too though the new SEC will self suppress so some are going to look like dogshit for periods of time.

The B1G West, if they could figure out the recruiting pitch, is full of money monsters and large fanbases. More people give a shite about Minnesota/Wisconsin than Alabama/Tennessee, and that's with Bama riding as high as it's ever been. Aside Iowa, which has a minor split with ISU, the core of the Big Ten West are single university, single fanbase states that just haven't got their shite together recently. There are significantly more people in Minnesota and Wisconsin than Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi combined. Two teams, and not messing with all the rando lower tier FBS teams in the area.

And they aren't as far off as some would think. Minnesota battered a vaunted Auburn defensive front until they cried for mercy, icing a game that wasn't as close as the score with an 8 minute drive. I think they're on 3 or 4 straight bowl wins now. Wisconsin's dumpstered a few teams. Auburn, Miami a few times, USC. Are they ready for a cream of the crop SEC team at its best? No. But they aren't as far off as you'd think.

That's why divisions are not needed.
