Not necessarily, depending on how much money USM would be willing to fork over for such a thing. USM happily went to Alabama just about every year for a few decades until Bama got shut out at home and canceled the series a few years later. I'd have no problem with either Ole Miss or State offering the same deal to USM.
If USM wants a home/away series with one of these schools, they'll have to pay for it, either by cutting the other school a check or giving them more than the usual road team's share of tickets (kind of like the LSU/Tulane series a few years ago). In either situation, their opponent will be the one providing a much larger fan base and tv viewer base (if the game is televised).
Being that Ole Miss or State brings more to the table than does USM, Ole Miss or State should expect to be rewarded for that, be it with money, extra seats at USM, or more home games in the series.
This.

How crazy was that fire at Mugshots last weekend?
Huh. I used to live around the corner from there.
However, when I saw "fire" and "Hattiesburg" in the same sentence, I wondered if Mugshots was owned by the same people who own Chesterfield's.
That place seems to have a fire every five years OR whenever the owners are behind on their bills.

Funny you mentioned Chesterfields. The owner sold out to CVS pharmacy, and they dismantled the old Chesterfield building on the corner of 49 and Hardy. Just so happens that in the pile of rubble a fire broke out. I shite you not.
FWIW Chesterfields is moving out to HWY 98 by O'Charlie's
Mugshots fire was ruled an accident, and they are set to reopen by the Grand Theater off of Hardy over in the old Alumni House building.

In the late 90's Bower was winning between 8 and 10 games a year and was consistantly ranked in the top 25 and was winning C-USA every other year.
No offense, but you are remembering the exception rather than the rule under Bower, he had 3 years at the end of the 90's where he won C-USA. One with only 8 wins. He then did pretty much what Fedora did for SEVEN YEARS until he got fired. USM wasn't exactly a perennial power in C-USA like you make it sound to me. We're talking +/-1 game between him and Fedora basically.
Independant:
1991 Southern Miss 4-7
1992 Southern Miss 7-4
1993 Southern Miss 3-7-1
1994 Southern Miss 6-5
1995 Southern Miss 6-5
C-USA:
1996 Southern Miss 8-3 4-1
1997 Southern Miss 9-3 6-0
1998 Southern Miss 7-5 5-1
1999 Southern Miss 9-3 6-0

Do you think Fedora is doing more than Bower???

the building mugshots was in was being rented by the owners, and as someone said, was scheduled to move to alumni house around May to be just a restaurant.
pretty sure there was no foul play

I just bring it up because Chesterfield's and their semi-regular fires were a running joke between me and my friends.
When they had the one in 2002, about two months before I graduated, I heard through the grapevine that someone had conveniently cleaned out the liquor cabinet before the blaze.

Can't really compare 3 years to 20
And USM athletic department is poor. They wouldn't be able to pay anyone for a series.

They are making good money off of baseball this year, and have plans on expanding Pete Taylor Park. They had close to 6K last night for a midweek game vs Ole Miss. They had over 3,000 every game this past weekend against Tulane.

That's just it; they are spending a boatload on upgrading facilities, which in turn hopefully will attract some decent recruits, which in turn will allow them to do more winning, which finally will bring in some more money.
Baseball will never be a problem, they are in a talent rich area with kids who want to play at USM.
Football is another story. They can't compete in recruiting with the big SEC schools in the south. They get the leftovers.
And I think Fedora will be gone soon. I liked Bower, but he wore out his welcome. Hopefully Favre steps in the program somehow. It would be great for the football team.

+1
This past recruiting class Fedora only signed 2 Mississippi kids due to the fact almost ALL of the top in state talent signed with State and Ole Miss.

How about "No"?

His nephew is a RS FR QB at Mississippi State. I heard that Brett and his brother bought a suitte in Starkville to watch Dylan play for the next 4 years. I think Southern pissed off the Farves by not offering Dylan, who was the MS HS player of the year and broke every passing record in the State.

He had an offer from USM.
And Favre spoke with the baseball team last year, and was on campus 2 weeks ago talking to the football team. There is no ill will there. His daughter goes there for crying out loud.
Just having Favre there would bolster recruiting ten fold. And i don't care about character issues. Larry Eustachy is the basketball coach.

I'd rather have someone with a track record of producing good/great teams either as a coach at a smaller school or as an assistant at a large program than a QB best known for a "when in doubt, air it out" philosophy, alum or not.

i dont think he was talking about hiring him as a Head Coach

If he means as QB coach, I can see it.
However, any other position would make me hesitant given that he has no coaching experience.

Yeah, wasn't talking about head coach
QB coach or special assistant, something like that
