The overall talent in 2020 was not close to 2019.
in 2019 LSU faced Tua, Trevor Lawrence, Jalen don't
Alabama played Justin Fields… Kellen Mond…. Ian Book…
Is Bo Nix the best QB you played that year or Stetson Bennet?
It was a year where a an absolute Bum like Mac Jones could succeed.

Sad the number of people in this thread unable to see the big shiny hook.

Oh so now these guys are great? And didn’t y’all say that Tua was injured all of his college career?
And we’re just going to completely ignore every other position on the roster? Wow, that’s an incredible level of cherry picking even for LSU fan standards.

And yet, how did LoSerU do that season? Hmmmm.
So what’s your list of excuses for 2022 Georgia being clearly better too?

The best bait usually has some truth to it. In this case the fish (LSU fans) are mad that the bait is worms and not a plastic lure.

No it didn't.
But that's your unique opinion.
Glad 2019 got you out of a,coma..

They're still the greatest team of all time. They didn't have any struggle wins, not even close.

They didn't play a ranked team until their 7th game of the season.
And they only beat unranked Washington St. 35-21.

This your first Paul Allen thread?

They’re all Starting NFL QBs. We also played Jordan Love. We played 4 QBs who were in the top half of the NFL in passing yards.

Ok
Please explain to me how Alabama was better with Waddle, Smith and Metchie than they were with Waddle, Smith, Jeudy, Ruggs and Metchie.
Explain to me how your defense was better without McKinney, Diggs, Raekwon Davis, Lewis and Jennings?
Because from where I am standing, 2020 Alabama looks like a worse version of 2019 Alabama.
You just brought back more than those around you.

No doubt. But since we’re talking about it, a lot of our perceptions depend on luck based on the perception of other teams. Or records. For example, 2011 Bama and LSU would beat most NCs from ‘95 to now, but their losses to each other sort of cancel each other out in favor of teams that went undefeated.
2011 Bama may have been Saban’s best team, but losing that close 9-6 game to LSU at home “disqualifies” them in a lot of these conversations. Even though that LSU team was probably an Oklahoma State win over a bad Iowa State team away from having gone 14-0 with probably the best resume off all-time and sitting firmly in the top 5 of this discussion if not top 2 or 3. Some all-time teams just pick bad years to be one of there’s another out there the same season.

And they beat 4 teams that finished in the final top 10 by scores of 49-25, 44-21, 41-3, and 62-24. 49-18 average margin against top 10 teams is insane, especially when 2 of them are the road and a third is a neutral site game.

Cool. What does that have to do with all of the QBs each played against? Better yet, compare the WHOLE rosters, you know the other 84 guys on scholarship.

Lol so in your retarded worldviews players don’t improve from year to year? So the players on LSU’s 2018 team didn’t improve at all into 2019 then right? That was the same roster as the year before so by your own admission, they couldn’t get better since players can’t improve from one year to the next.
Y’all do know that no one outside of this message board even considers 2019 LSU in the GOAT conversation right? Like y’all know that only your fanbase even entertains that thought, right? Please tell me that your delusions does have a limit at some point.

I've said before and I'll say again: it's a shame for Bama that 2020 ended up being the season it was.
That team was incredible, for sure.
However, they played zero hard games in hostile opposing stadiums and played countless teams with a ton of opt outs.
The 2020 Lakers could be the greatest team ever assembled. Would anyone ever consider them to be considering where they played? Of course not. The 2020 Dodgers? Of course not.
It's not Bama's fault but it is what it is.

I bet ESPN wishes they could take back the segments about where USC ranked in best ever teams before the Rose Bowl against Texas, but alas, those do exist and both of those teams were true greats.

Ehhhh that’s a terrible comparison when you look at how the NBA season had already started and what they went to as opposed to college football knowing the lay of the land at least on a conference by conference basis.
And its revisionist history that the stadiums were all empty. Most in the South were either business as usual and the rest had some restrictions (50 or 75%) full but that was not in Bama’s control.
But beyond Bama, Georgia outperformed LSU and already has had more guys drafted from their 2022 roster and still has more to go.
