Eh. We will see.
I didn’t realize until yesterday he is 31, older than I thought.

Baseball has been around a long, long time and like it or not, career statistics and records are baked into the cake of how we evaluate greatness.
Ohtani may have talent pouring out of his eyeballs and he may be doing something we have never seen before but at the end of the day statistical milestones still matter.

It's so weird but cool at the same time. Baseball, an American sport, now has a Japanese man as the GOAT.

It's cute that you think that.
100 years from now people will still be talking about Babe Ruth.
100 years from now people will say "Shohei who ?".

Those WS pitching stats are insane for Ruth

Which they should since that was during the height of the dead ball era

Well then his hitting numbers are more impressive

I am someone who finds a lot of the discussion around single postseason statistics dumb because small samples in baseball can be extremely dumb. But the initial title of the OP is correct, and he might be the most singularly talented all around athlete in his sport that I have ever watched.
i am the one that said Spinger didn't have it in 2017 after the ALCS and was ok with him leaving the Astros
Post season sample size can change at a drop of a hat

Was last night the worst post season game ever in the modern era?
0-3 at the plate with 2 Ks
6 ERA on the mound with the loss
0-3 at the plate with 2 Ks
6 ERA on the mound with the loss

So that makes his Home Run achievements even more impressive.
Yet another reason Babe is The GOAT.

Was game 4 against the brewers the best?

Babe Ruth holds the top four seasons with the biggest disparities between being the home run leader and second place and 6 of the top 8 seasons.
1920 Ruth 54 hrs / second place 24
1921 Ruth 59 / second place 19
1926 Ruth 47 / second place 19
1928 Ruth 54 / second place 27
Also in 1920 Ruth had four homers more than the entire American League.
No one will ever be more dominant in the game of baseball than Ruth and it won’t ever be close. Bonds came the closest.

He's the BEST ever and its not close. But greatest requires some longevity
