If you're going to call it a sport, you have to look at one Eldrick Woods.

Yea Kelly Slater is probably the correct answer. I just think of Shaun White more because of the Olympics and the fact that the X games get so much media time now.

Yeah, only time I would ever hear about Slater is when he would make some random top 10 on sportscenter.

So much harder for surfers to get the same kind of attention because they're having to travel the globe for the competitions and many competitions have a window for when they start while they wait for a legit swell to arrive. You can pretty much bank on there being snow wherever they are having the winter games/winter x games.

It's really amazing how much better he clearly is than everyone else. I mean, he got 24 feet on that one run, and nobody else was getting more than like 18 feet...it's unreal just how much harder and higher he goes than everyone else. I don't know why or how he gets that much higher either, but when you have 6 more feet in the air than everyone else, you can do a lot more shite. And he does. Every year. It's incredible.

The difference between him and everyone else is simple: Everyone else is trying to just medal. Shaun White's gold is a given...he's just trying to get 100s.

It's like Usain Bolt in the special Olympics. When you physically aren't capable of the things he does, the only we you can beat him is if he messes up. And he doesn't ever mess up.

Shaun White is the best snowboarder at riding half pipes. He is no where close to being the best snowboarder in the world.

The only thing I can think of is that sometimes you see others start off slow and then go, but it seems like they hold back a little, whereas SW is basically balls to the wall as soon as he turns his board downhill. Also, he seems to hit the downslope better than others too. That's all I can figure.

But still...when you're talking about someone who AVERAGES more height than others' highest high points, it seems like everyone else is doing it wrong.
