Fun Bunch said they will just pump him with Ozempic and everything will be fine.

That's why it's one of the worst trades ever.

The market told you what Luka was worth with gobert and dmitch trades.

Dallas tricked itself into thinking a short window with AD will work while getting one first.

You could've gotten a third team involved.

It's an awful trade at best. And the Mavs sub reddit is on fire right now

I need GHAZI’s take on this

Luka >>> Tatum

If we did an NBA rebuild and the league had a draft, I could see a slight majority picking Luka over Tatum, but not a huge win, and Tatum would be the literal next person picked in that scenario.

As an individual player, Luka is amazing, but he has flaws and you have to build a specific team around him. Tatum offers a lot more on defense and scheme versatility on offense, and we just saw what a team built around him will do to the one Luka demands (embarrassing G-sweep while not even at 100%)

Quite some news to wake up to this morning. This seems absurd.

Those were pre-2nd apron deals.

Also, neither Gobert or DMitch got a player like AD in return. Utah lucked out with Lauri taking a step, but he just got paid and they immediately regret it.

I'd rather have Tatum without even flinching.

You put Tatum on a team where he doesn't have to play defense and is allowed to dominate the ball and he's putting up a triple dub, too, with better efficiency.

If you don't want to rebuild, and accept that inefficiency, this isn't bad at all.

I’m slowly coming over to this opinion, but being in “win now” mode doesn’t really absolve the GM from being really bad at his job.

This seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

GM / Front office “malpractice” if you will

Absolutely. And he doesn't need to go on Ozempic

Tatum doesn't miss games and gives 85% of the offensive output with elite D

I said its suboptimal decision making and the win now mode is an inefficiency.

Again, this is also new territory with the 2nd apron.

If DAL signs Luka to a super max, they're essentially fricked with Klay and Kyrie (assuming he re-signs). Now the Lakers have to deal with that (and their ownership has less money than the ownership of DAL)

We’re just gonna ignore that Kristaps Porzingis is the Celtics’ 5th best player in this situation?

No I said they weren't 100%

And he's more like 4th, if we put Jrue at 3 last year (which is debatable)

I’ll say this for your point - people are absolutely describing this trade as if Anthony Davis is chopped liver which is pretty weird

I still wouldn’t have done it if I’m Dallas, and if I was gonna do it, I’d commit to a rebuild and/or “best offer”

But I understand your point

Anthony Edwards: Likely no due to age

Anthony Edwards is 2 years younger than Luka. It’s not like he’s 19.
