Michael jordan did the same thing after he sold his majority stake.
I’m talking majority owner having final say, selling majority stake for crazy money and continue to do all that.
MJ had a cup of coffee with the Wizards. Part Owner. 10% stake. Had executive role. Big name looking like he ran team is different. He actually got let go from Wizards by Abe Pollin showing he wasn’t top person in charge.

Walter isn’t paying $10 billion. He’s valuing the franchise at $10 billion total and buying a majority stake of that.
Still an astronomical number for a sports franchise.

They aren’t selling for $10bn they are selling their share at a $10bn enterprise valuation, whatever their share may be, hella ROI over 50 years. Who knows what the lifetime earnings have been over that time frame too.

Gotcha. My bad. I was thinking of franchise were it seemed to public MJ was still in charge (wizards)
Ok then, with hornets: Once the sale is complete, Jordan will keep a minority stake and maintain a presence with the franchise. — ESPN.
Maintain a presence doesn’t sound like I have final say, but that’s just me.
