If Caruso or Dort had to guard SGA how long would it take for them to foul out? Setting over/under at 5 minutes.

SGA has made NBA hard to watch.

While shooting 48.7/38.2/78.6 with a TS% of 61.7 and a PER of 28.1.

WS/48: 0.220
BPM 9.9 (O 8.3, D 1.7)
VORP 8.0
On/Off: +9.5

While SGA shot 51.9/37.5/89.8 with a TS% of 63.7 and a PER of 30.7

WS/48: 0.309
BPM 11.5 (O 8.9, D 2.6)
VORP 8.9
On/Off: +11.2

SGA is deserving, the issue is that Jokic's numbers and what he provides to said team is VASTLY across every metric minus PPG.

Jokic's:
Shooting 57.6/41.7/80.0 with a TS% of 66.3 and a PER of 32.0

WS/48: 0.307
BPM 13.3 (O 9.9, D 3.3)
VORP 9.8
On/Off: +19.0

SGA is deserving, but Jokic was by every metric aside from the "team wins" column, the superior player.

This is Jokic fatigue, plain and simple.

those are only 3 stats and don't account for efficiency or defense at all

Shai this year had a 30.7 PER to Lukas 28.1 last year.
Win Shares Luka had 12.0 and Shai had 16.7.

MVP voters have always awarded players for their team being the best in the league.

We saw it with Drew Brees losing MVPs in crazy statistical seasons when he wasn't even on the field for defense so it was hard to blame him for half their losses.

acting like wins/losses have never been a factor in MVP voting is insincere.

2001 Allen Iverson won the MVP over Shaq with a 24.0 PER to Shaq's 30.2 PER.

The difference was the 76ers won their conference with 56 wins and the Lakers didn't

Then we have Dave Cowens 18.1 PER (20.5/16.2/4.1, 12 WS) over Kareem 28.5 PER (30.2/16.1/5.0, 21.9 WS) in 1972-73.

Probably the Least Valuable MVP we’ve ever seen, how games have the Thunder won by 30 pts and he was arse?

Also probably the ugliest form of basketball we’ve ever seen from an MVP

I just posted an MVP winner that had an 18.1 PER for the seaon.

Shai had the 25th best PER season OF ALL TIME

you don't know ball like you think you do.

Michael Jordan and Lebron only had 4 seasons better than SGA's season this year.

Probably not many. You don't average 32 ppg if you're arse a bunch of times.

Harden erasure. All the same foul baiting but chucking up 10 3s a game.

SGA is the only redeeming quality of the Thunder basketball organization.

It's absolutely hilarious seeing all these people that have watched youtube compilations and one playoff game chime in to cry over the MVP winner of a league they spent all year saying noone watches

Well deserved if people would actually read the post and process it. Only other player that has numbers like this is MJ.

Y’all are such a salty bunch, I love it

Feels good after watching Shai outplay Jokic as well, really glad we got that matchup to cement his MVP.

Royce Young
@royceyoung

"The night that we traded Russell, I was writing that op-ed and I was getting off the phone with Daryl and then writing a couple lines and then getting back on the phone with Daryl, then talking to Thad, Russell's agent, then talking to Russell.

We had basically wrapped up the trade. It was pretty late, and I was walking down one of the hallways in the building and I heard a ball bouncing. I walked into someone's office that had a window. I think there may have been three people in the building, and I looked out the window, and Shai was working out. He had just got here. I said hi to him or something. It was pretty quick. He was just -- he was in there working out with I think it was one of his agents. I can't remember exactly. It was kind of a blur because I was pretty emotional about the whole Russell thing and then we have these new guys coming in and it was -- you know, it was a very -- you just didn't know which way was one.

He didn't even have Thunder gear on. That I remember because I was like, why doesn't this guy have Thunder gear? What is this? What kind of shop are we running here?

It was just ironic to me, and I thought, if this guy ever becomes a player, I've got to remember this story. I'm confident enough now to tell you the story, because I think this guy is going to be a player."
