Now that’s a valid point.
Scored only 14 pts on 5/24/25
Scored only 18 pts on 5/9/25
Scored only 15 pts on 4/20/25
This record is bullshite

But why does Shai’s 3 games in the playoffs where he scored less than 20 not count?
Playoffs don’t count in any of these records. Some of y’all just shouldn’t comment about things you don’t know. You don’t have to have an opinion about everything.

Then it’s not 127 “straight games”
Btw they didn’t include playoff games for Wilt either.
His streak actually began in a playoff game on 3/14/1961 & ended 141 games later on 1/20/1963
That’s 141 “straight games” btw, he didn’t miss a game

It is, you just don’t know how stats are compiled. Playoffs aren’t included in stats like this in any sport.

The craziest part about Shai passing Wilt tonight is that Shai had 20 points by the end of the 3rd Quarter in 113 of the 127 games
Wilt probably averaged 45 points, 30 rebounds and 10 blocks during his streak while being double teamed the entire game.

I don’t really care how “they” do it.
I’m just saying that for 141 straight games, Wilt Chamberlain scored 20+ points without missing a game.
That actually happened.
SGA did it for 36 straight games before he missed a game
That actually happened

Playoffs never count for these records. perhaps they should, but they don't.
For example, the all time scoring list does not include playoff numbers, only regular season.

A playoff is now not considered a game?

Is he the most boring face of the league of all time
As Barkley said, the league is higher scoring, yet more boring, than it has ever been

Not really. Wilt played 127 games consecutively, while also scoring 20+ points is incredibly impressive. But that's not what the record is for.
The exact same way Lebron's record of 1297 games played while scoring 10+ points. It doesn't mean that Lebron played 1297 games in a row.
A batter gets a hit in every game for 10 games. Then he gets hurt and is out the rest of the season. Then he comes back and gets a hit in 24 games in a row. Then he gets hurt and is out for the rest of the season. Then he comes back and gets a hit in 24 games in a row. In the 25th game he fails to get a hit.
Did he break Joe DiMaggio's record?

Are playoff games played with fewer players? Or maybe less time? I'm confused.

So basically this record has 2 asterisks next to it.
Interesting

Playoffs and bowl games shouldn't could for cumulative records like total points or yardage or TDs where playing different amounts of games matter but streaks are streaks. They continue until they end and Wilt scored at least 20 in 141 games 1961-63.

I won't lie to you. I don't watch a lot of baseball, so I don't know how they compile their records. But this is how they compile records for basketball.
For example, Steph Curry holds the record for most consecutive games with a 3-pointer made with 268 games. If you think this means that Curry played 268 straight games straight without ever missing a single game, then you would be sadly mistaken.

Playoffs have never been included for records like this. For example, Lebron's all-time scoring record, is regular season only. John Stockton's all-time assist record, regular season only.
The scoring champion each year is dictated strictly off of only the regular season.

It’s weird how many of you are so eager to prove that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Wilt averaged 10 more minutes per game in his streak.
No matter how you mouth breathers try to spin it this is a very big accomplishment. All it takes is one game he fouls out or gets hurt and leaves or has a bad shooting night he did it. And every team the past month has sent extra defenders at him.
He is racking up impressive numbers. And stays out of trouble, married with child and is a family guy. He rarely complains about refs and plays defense. He won a title and is focused on winning more. Could have left for a big market team yet said he loves it in OKC and wants to stay.
As for the team they play defense. So many complained teams were soft these days and players just shoot 3’s. OKC plays defense and now you have the whiners bitching about hard play. Same people who would love flags on QBs in football.
Then you have the non basketball fans who were picked on as kids and just jump on the hate wagon because other posters do.
Add in the ref whiners too. No sport posted on this board is safe from ref whiners. Think of the Vandy Whistler except its whining about refs.
I am humored by all the different type posters who are experts who never watch basketball.
There is a changing of the guard in NBA. Lebron is so yesterday and SGA, Wemby, Jokic and some others will have some epic battles in the future.
