Ray Romano on Everybody loves Raymond was from Long Island on the show and liked the Jets and Mets.
And those are the teams both Kevin James and Ray Romano like in real life, and Ray is from Queens and Kevin James if from Long Island.

Are Giants fans considered elitist, and Jets working-class?
I guess Eli winning 2 got all the bandwagoners and the Jets sucking for so long made them lovable losers

Their fans couldn't bring themselves to root for rhe hated Yankees, so they waited and became Mets fans
And the Giants were a power franchise at the same time -- repped by Pretty Boy Gifford -- so in the public mind they kind of got connected to the Yankees behemoth in a way.
So when the Jets came along about the same time as the Mets, it was in a way natural for all the anti-Yankees to find their way to them.

The Jets have a lot of Jewish fans, there was a problem a few years back when a home game fell on a Jewish holiday.
Um. Perhaps because it's a NY team? Fwiw, the giants have quite a few Jewish fans too. What a strange comment.

This. My in laws were born and raised in Brooklyn and grew up dodgers fans. They because big time mets fans by default, because there was no way a dodger fan would switch loyalty to the hated Yankees.
