The team and I have realised that there is no longer a common desire to stay together beyond the end of this season. Financial matters have played no part in this joint decision. That’s not the way I think when it comes to making certain choices and it never will be.

quote:

Binotto added: "This is a decision taken jointly by ourselves and Sebastian, one which both parties feel is for the best. It was not an easy decision to reach, given Sebastian’s worth as a driver and as a person.

"There was no specific reason that led to this decision, apart from the common and amicable belief that the time had come to go our separate ways in order to reach our respective objectives.

Leclerc was stronger last year anyway.

Vettel's head was all messed up because Leclerc was better than him.

He needs to go where he is the clear #1 or you'll get whatever last year was.

It’ll be interesting to see if Ricarrdio makes a jump from Renault.

It’ll also be interested to see if this prompts Mercedes to replace Bottas with Russell so that they don’t risk losing him to Ferrari. Going to be some interesting politics involved.

Ok Ferrari, time to go get Max and give us the Verstappen v. Leclerc team drama we all need.

I honestly cant wait for the spending cap to come into place, so teams like Williams, McLaren and Haas can actually compete for podiums in the future. Tired of it always being Mercedes, Ferrari and Redbull

Couldn’t agree more. Russell is the real deal in my book. He’s not quite on Sharl’s level, but I think given the same car and support, he’d be close.

Gio gets the bump up to Ferrari. They don't want a huge challenge to Leclerc.

Russell is waiting for Bottas to stumble or HAM to quit. Vettel might be done in F1, someone will offer him a drive, but Red Bull is the only challenger that would give him the chance.

Sounds like it's more than a rumor. Motorsport has a similar story.

Ricciardo now playing middle of the pack musical chairs, maybe McLaren figures it out and makes the jump but no guarantees of that.

Is this even a possibility? I can't stand him, but he is in the perfect position right now and is a great driver.

Who jumps to Renault??

Vettel sure as hell isn't going to want to wallow in the midfield in one of those pieces of crap, but if he wants a ride, I dont think he can do much better

Where does Vettel end up??

I dont see any of the other top 2 giving him a ride, and there are plenty of other, lesser drivers out there that will jump to fill an F1 seat

Is Vettel out, like Alonso??

I'm wondering if Vettel might sit out a year, and wait to see who approaches him after the season. F1 has a weird situation with a pretty good group of top-tier drivers, but only one team that seems to have a legit shot at a championship. I really thought when Vettel went to Ferrari that they'd eventually break Mercs stranglehold at some point.

That's my guess. I just don't think his heart is in it anymore.

Weird that the silly season has started before any of the races.

I thought so too but Ferrari couldn't keep from treading on their own dicks.

As a driver I don't get the hate, his persona, especially outside the sport, doesn't fit everyone.

I think he is a couple years away from bailing. I do think he realizes all his fashion connections disappear when he leaves F1.
