As much as I'd dread losing such a series, SAS/HOU do still need to meet in the postseason soon. Y'all are the only Western team we have yet to face in the Duncan era, believe it or not.

I just noticed y'all's upcoming schedule. Holy smokes.

Nice start going 2-0 against Miami and Indiana though.

Yeah, this stretch is brutal... but it has started better than anybody hoped.

After this stretch, the schedule gets much less difficult.

You guys definitely got Miami and Indy at the right times in terms of scheduling and those teams being hot/cold. Rest of the schedule will be interesting although you also will be getting OKC at the right time with our 2
best defenders out (Perkins and Thabo).

ETA: Point is: as hard of a stretch as it is, you are catching some of these good-elite teams and the right times.

That's how the NBA works. We'll take it. We've dealt with injuries all season long. Asik was out like 2 months and Beverly missed a good chunk of time himself. Those guys being healthy and the sneaky addition of Jordan Hamilton has made a difference lately. We were 19-13 before January 1st. Now 43-19. Nice run so far. I think we go 2-2 in the next 4, which I would be fine with. 3-1 would be amazing. I'm predicting a 56-26 finish.

Rockets fans: what seed/matchup do you think you'll get, and which do you prefer? Obviously I'm thinking y'all will land anywhere from the 1-3 currently.

Is there a "bad" matchup for y'all, or a side of the bracket you'd rather avoid? Obviously the 1 seed is most desirable, but c'mon, this is the West, after all

rather not play the clips or Memphis. The west so loaded this year i do not think anyone really wants to play anyone.

That's the NBA. Some of those teams caught the Rockets when they had guys out earlier this year, or were playing them in the second game of a back-to-back.

Every series will be competitive because the West is so loaded this year.

Rockets worst match-ups are OKC, Clippers, and Memphis.

Playing OKC in the first round won't happen. Memphis is unlikely. Clippers is a possibility and that would suck.

Why is Lob City a bad matchup for y'all? I haven't watched y'all play them.

I don't think anyone really wants Memphis in round 1 just because they are so damn physical.

Regular season series records mean very little come playoff time.

I'm not a Rockets fan, but I sure would love to see Howard dominate and lead the Rockets to the Finals.

The butthurt on this board would be glorious.

I don't think DW was trying to emphasize regular season series records as much as he was just undercoring how difficult the West is this year.

Rockets struggled against them last year and also this year.

Jones can't guard Blake Griffin. Jones is decent because he's athletic. When he matches up against a guy more athletic than him like Griffin, he has a hard time.

Clippers are good on the boards, so the Rockets don't have an advantage there.

Rockets don't have great perimeter defense, so the Clippers could light it up from 3 when they get hot.

I haven't payed close enough attention during the games to analyze it better than that. All I know is the Rockets struggle against the Clippers.

Solid analysis, thanks

It seems every time SA plays LAC, they kill us on the boards, too. That team can be a real handful when they're aggressive, to say the least.

Despite recent OKC struggles, this is the most excited I've been for the playoffs as a whole in a long time. Should be some truly epic matchups in the West. I just pray to God the Heat don't win it all again. I really think they are as vulnerable as they were back when they lost to the Mavs. Biggest difference now though is LeBron is much more consistent.

If MIA was in the West, they wouldn't win.

Only having to really worry about one tough opponent if your entire bracket is an incredible advantage. They're a great team, but going through the meat grinder of the west compared to the weak sauce out east gives me pause. And of course as beat up (and yes, old) my Spurs are, SA still had 'em dead to rights in the Finals, which is another testament to the caliber of basketball in this conference right now.

No one would be shocked if any of the top 4 (maybe even 5) west seeds won it all. Crazy when you think about it.

Bring on the postseason!
