The ACC is considering various scheduling models for the upcoming football season, including one that would have Notre Dame eligible to play in the conference championship game, sources told ESPN on Friday.

If they play a full conference schedule it's logical to have them play in the conference title if eligible

If they don't play any OOC games they will need it

Will they get off their high horse about a conference membership in football if they win or compete for a championship?

frick them.

They want the freedom of not being in a conference? Then they shouldn’t be able to do a drop-in on the ACC when their independent schedule falls apart.

BYU isn’t getting this kind of treatment AFAIK.

because they had a conference and they left it. A lot of people don’t even consider them P5

My point is that no other independent gets special treatment like ND does.

They like to parade their independence but at the same time are now competing for an ACC title because it is convenient.

No other team in football gets that kind of standard.

If the ACC has any nutz, they would not even discuss it.

Because when I think of the Atlantic Coast Conference, I think South Bend, Indiana.

Why is anyone letting these fudgepackers into a conference other than the B1G?

On that thought, what is their ‘beef’ with the B1G?

Against this since they refuse to play for a conference. But now that their season would be I jeopardy otherwise they will for one year. Then go back to getting the money.

The Big 10 is apparently too working class for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame out draws every team in the ACC. The ACC wants as many eyeballs as possible so they're willing to do stuff like this for ND. The Big 10 won't because they draw just fine with programs like Ohio St and Michigan.

No need to worry. They will never make it.

In normal times this would piss me off, but I don't care as long as some games are played

at least some people get it...

the ACC conference needs ND more than ND needs the ACC...ND financially will be just fine sitting out the season if they had to...

It's not hard to figure out, it all comes down to revenue sharing...the ACC wants/needs Notre Dame that comes with that NBC contract that runs thru 2025 and with this fricked up season that would give the ACC a team each week on a major network to a large audience...

Also you allow ND to compete for the conference title by putting them in the Coastal division with a possible match up with Clemson, you will have a huge championship game audience for tv ratings, plus if ND makes it there undefeated or with 1 loss, you are almost assured of getting one team in the CFP and the other in a NY6 bowl, double huge payout for the ACC...
