I don’t know how they called that all game, but it’s unjust to the kid not to call a clear and potentially impactful foul on a game winner
Exactly. The hold the flag/swallow the whistle at end of games argument is so idiotic. It wasn’t some aggressive and hard foul, but it was a clear foul that impacted the offensive player’s ability to make the shot. Why should offensive players be punished just because it’s the end of a close game?

Why should defensive players be punished because some cocksucker decided to change the way the game was called in literally the final 5 seconds

I don’t have a problem with the call but they’ve let these guys be incredibly physical the ENTIRE game
This. The second half of this game had guys hitting the floor more times than fouls called. 13 total fouls called in the second half of the most physical game I’ve seen in this tournament including the one that decided the game.

I thought that it was a pretty clear foul. He made contact and kept contact through the shot. Definitely affected the shot.

It's a foul, but 99 percent of the time officials don't call a foul at the end of the game. He shouldn't have called a foul. Just fricked up a great game.
There’s nothing in the rule book that states, “With less than ten seconds left on the game clock, shooting fouls shall not be called.” Rules are enforced for the duration of the game otherwise they aren’t rules.

Being called for a foul when you foul someone isn’t being punished.
Refs being inconsistent isn’t a rare phenomenon. They’re human and can make mistakes. But just because they’ve been inconsistent during the game, you shouldn’t play under the assumption that you can get away with clear fouls at any point.

Yea no shite dude. But if you played 39 minutes and 55 seconds with a whistle being blown a certain way and then it switches you can’t see how that’s fricked up?
But they weren’t inconsistent the whole game. They let it get really physical until the last 5 seconds

And that same thing happened to Creighton and SDSU no less than a dozen times in the second half and we’re not called. In a game this tight all of those plays are just as impactful as the final one. You call it the other dozen times or you don’t call this one.

Yep. It sucks that it happened. But the guy played bad defense and got beat. He made up for that bad defense by putting his hand on the offensive player enough to make an impact.
I hate that the game is decided that way, but why would we give an unearned benefit to the defensive guy who got beat?

i'm praying Miami wins... fricking glorious clusterfrick of a Final Four, and i'm all about it!
Idk if it’s been posted already, but a 5 seed winning would be a first. A 4 has won once, same with 6,7,8 but never a 5.
Could end up having 5 vs 5 in the title game. Of course the year with the craziest upsets would end with a game between the seed that usually gets upset the most.

Why does it matter if the ball was going to be short?

Then call that during the entire game

If he hadn’t been beat I would have more of a problem with the call. But he got beat and he got grabby to make up for it. It’s a foul but I’d have preferred them let it go given the situation.

Watching live I thought it was a foul… it wasn’t much, but you can’t grab and push a shooter… you’re just asking to get called.

Then you end up with games where a ton of guys are always fouling out. It’s a thin line.

I don’t think it’s any surprise that a jump shooter guard (Kenny) thought it was the right call… and the post player power forward (Barkley) thought it was a bad call. Their perspectives shaped their opinions on contact when you have the ball.
